I'd say Bjørn "The Bucket" Skåre, but the timeline of my sources don't match up
Nice try. Nicholas Weberg played there on Saturday for Yale against Harvard. Been a bit out of shape since a concussion last season but did very well as a midget for Shattuck St Mary.Top scorer in senior year. Same prep as Stepan and Crosby. Undraftet, and would be very nice if Rangers could pick up our second best short person to Hartford. Allready in the neighbourhood.

Bad to the Bone!

The second period has begun much in the same fashion as the first period ended- with the US dominating.

Credit to the Norwegians they've managed to avoid taking penalties, despite the obvious talent gap.

Here comes Patrick Kane through the neutral zone, head down, dipsy-doodles around Thoresen, Kane heads up ice-

AND GETS ABSOLUTELY ANNIHILATED BY MATS ZUCCARELLO!

What a crushing open-ice hit from the diminutive Norwegian!!!

The Norwegian bench, for the second time today, is on its feet and PUMPED

It's time to give Zucca a new long-term contract. He deserves a contract worth 5-5,5 Million per year. He will be a better player, the next upcoming years.
But im not sure NYR what they want. Its have been interesting to see Zucca on a better team as well.

Allright then. There is no chance he gets anything even close to that number, and he wouldn't as an ufa either.

I truly believe he would have collected 4.7-8ish on the open marked. I believe there are enough teams that are short of a zuccarello to be a very successful, or even more successful, team. (imagine a 2nd line of Neal, Malkin and Zucc - yikes... or perhaps YUCK)
I do not believe NYR will pay him that, and I do not believe he will require it to accept an offer. He seems intent to stay a NYR. Usually that is the case until a great offer comes along, but for Zucc I truly believe it to be true.

Zucc being arb eligible with only 1 year of rfa my guess would be 3.9 for 4 years?

5+ mill ?! Are you mental...lol ;)

He is an RFA at the end of the season, not an UFA, so that is not likely to happen.

As for "a better team", fortunately Zuke seems to very much enjoy his time with the Rangers, and getting more money elsewhere is not very likely to attract him away (unless the difference is too much to say no to).

Assuming that he keeps procution at a near ppg pace for the rest of the season - He could go up to or above 60 points. This depends a bit on what line he will be playing with, since most of his production lately has been off the PP. Last match excluded.

If he's put into a position to succeed in ES, say a line with Zucc - Richie - Nash just as an example, its likely that his production goes up, as well as his contract value. A line of Poo - Brass - Zucc, while having been decent, you cant really expect them to score every game in ES, that just wont happen. With Nash you sort of rely on him to do just that.

Its interesting that he does not have a spot in the Rangers top6, while arguably having been the best forward this season as a whole. Which in turn raises the question wether Mats even has a future on this team moving forward. Say if he's destined to be slotted with forwards who are prone to big stretches of no production, will he be inclined to sign a deal, or willl he want to go places where he's being given priority.

~3 mill seems reasonable even though I think he will outperform the average ~3 mill player.

I think he will be happy With 3-3.5 long term if he's under the impression that he is a an important part of this team. That means playing top 6, and I think they definately should also put an A on him sooner rather than later. Sather loves him, Dolands love Sather, Zuke loves the Rangers + playing hockey, and AV loves to use Zuke in all kinds of situations. Regardless of lines he's still one of the most used forwards. 2nd after Richards last game. Might maybe go to arbitration?, but he's definately staying.

And that means this Board will be FLOODED WITH NORWEGIANS TALKING ABOUT SHINNY FOR THE COMING DECADE!!!

MUAHAHAHAHA!!!

May you have right, but i think its bad deal. Must see what he have performed this year, in the playoff last year. And he saved some money for NYR when he sign this one year contract. And if you see what other players have in salary, and what they have performed so far.. . .. . .

My favorite player to watch this season. He's been one of the most consistent players on the ice in terms of having an impact.... If he keeps this up they need to get him locked up on a 3 year deal...

You obviously never really know how players develop (as a Canucks fan I loved it when we traded for Booth and now that is probably one of the worst contracts in the league), but with the cap going up to 70m+ Zuccarello would most likely be far far better than the average 3m player. I would go so far as to say no player better than him would get a contract worth less than 3m now (obviously excluding EL and maybe the odd 38 year old taking a pay cut for the right team).

Zuccs gonna get 3-4 mil, and he deserves it. since his benching hes been super consistent. efforts there, smarts are there, and hes lights out on the PP.

pay the man.

Been a lurker on this forum for a loooong time, and thought it would be nice to register so I have the opportunity to give my two cents. I wouldn't stress the contract atm. Zuccarello is doing great and that's good, but as some of you have mentioned, he needs to keep up the production. I really dont feel like Zucc has been shafted now that he does his duties on the third line. AV is using Zucc's skills in all factors of the game and have a lot of confidence in him. As for Zucc moving to another club is highly unlikely. There is no question about his loyalty to the rangers!

Welcome to the forum, and what you say here is the truth :)

Since November 1, Mats Zuccarello is 12th (tied) in #NHL scoring with 30 points in 35 games. #NYRangers

He's got to shoot more, this is not good enough!:sarcasm:

Honestly, I don't get why he's on the third line. Kreider, Richards and Zucc are team leaders in goals. Richards has 1 more point, but last 30 games, Zucc has been by far the Rangers best player.

Kreider - Stepan - Zucc (Was a beautiful composition early in the season)
Nash - Richards - Callahan (Maybe switch with Hagelin)
Pouliot - Brassard - Hagelin (Maybe switch with Callahan)
Boyle - Moore - Carcillo
