Post-Game Talk: Zibanejad worst Ranger since.....?

This isn't just your regular rut that other teams go through. The core sucks, missing the playoffs might make Dolan fire Drury, maybe Lavy isn't immune to it as well.

Hopefully the new GM tells both Kreider and Ziba they suck more on the ice than in the privacy of their bedroom between two consenting adults...and Trouba gets bought-out!

I don't think Drury is the problem. None of the core are his players. He also had very little cap space this year so I can't blame him for the Wheelers and Boninos on this team. Guys like Othmann, Berard, Sykora, Perrault, Edstrom, will join Cuylle in a year or 2. I think Goodrow gets bought out this summer and hopefully Trouba gets traded.

Imagine what kinda player Mika would be if he had someone like MacKinnon's competitiveness. Zero heart. But that's just his personality at this point. It's like he had a kid this season so you can just write him off for the year. The beta/alpha/soy thing always sounds goofy to me but there's really no other way to put it. Enough with the quinoa salads and the lentil soup. The guy makes so much money he could source the highest quality protein on the planet and instead eats Bill Gates fake alt-meats. How many times in the past has this guy gave interviews where he'd be like I'd rather set up my husband Kreids for a goal than score one myself. Enough with that bullshit

I think another poster touched on it, I have before. He's really scared of concussions, and he should be.

He got paid, and he's gonna try to square this as best he can but he's also not gonna risk his long term health and this is kinda what we're gonna get. I don't think he'll flub the puck as bad, tonight was something weird, but it's not gonna be *that* much better either.

Trading Buch, signing Reaves, Nemeth, Goodrow, not keeping Copp, Vatrano, Motte, Tarasenko, or Kane, naming f***ing Truoba captain!

To be fair, I think Drury knew he was making a mistake with Zibanejad, and went out to "fix" his mistake with trocheck and it's worked at least.

Lots of moves by GMs are forced. They couldn't walk into the season with no legitimate center locked up. Drury has had bad moves and he's had good moves, like every GM trying to compete and has their job on the line. It is what it is.

The issue is Laviolette seems to be running a country club where there's more ref blaming and tinkering than owning up to poor individual play.

Team non-effort.

-Mika was trash all game. Whining to the ref and picking up his stick while the GWG goes in the net? I don't give a shit how much money he makes. He should be a healthy scratch next game.

-I love Laf, but if you want to be a go-to guy, you need to bury at least one of those chances.

-Kreider has to locate his heart or his balls. Preferably both, but if he can't find at least one, he's a waste of space.

-Lavi needs to shake things up and stop letting the players dictate how/where/when they are going to play. Sit a couple of guys. Shake up the PP1. Elevate some kids. At the VERY least, he needs to use his TO when the ice tilts the way it did for the first half of the third period. I don't even remember the last time we had a coach who could make an adjustment DURING a game.

-The refs must have had plans tonight. So many blatant picks on that last possession. I kind of want the Rangers to pull the same shit next time they go to OT so that when they get called for it they can put up both clips and ask for a clarification. Textbook interference multiple times during the same possession and it leads to a game-winning goal. That's just inept on the part of the refs. Not blaming them for the loss (see points 1-4), but you hate to lose any game like that.

At I guess I'd say it was to help keep the actual cap hit down, which was even more important than usual with the flat cap in place. Remember he was coming off a ppg season and 24 in 20 in an ECF run. He was a legit first line centre and was going to get paid

Drury paid unders, but sacrificed flexibility to get it

You would sign Copp for 5 mil? He sign Trocheck for 5.6 mil. He made good deadline trades with those guys. It's debatable that any of them should have been signed long term. He signed Chytil, Laf, Kakko, Lindgren to reasonable deals. I like his drafting also. Othmann, Sykora, Berard, and Perrault with be important parts of this team in the near future. We
