Yes. I think at best, it wouldn't be as different as people think in a lot of ways. This is currently happening with guys who worked their way up the totem pole

Yeah, I just watched the winning goal and Rutta just straight up hit all three of our players while the Sharks had the puck.Worst Ranger to not get a blatant interference call in OT. Yes.
We will see about the rest. Just like Panarin it is difficult to read. Yes, I wish we were stock full of 23 yr old top-10 centers. And yes, we got burned (our fault or not) on 4 top-10 pics. Zib still has some skill, but let's see what is left in the tank. I think the rest of this year says it all about what we need to do in the off season.
Patching things up with Gallant? My house smells like KFC
except that in this league, teams like that can find success through structure and effort. Look at Arizona's roster and the way they play. The gap in standing points between us and them has everything to do with our special teams. Boston just lost it's 1C and 2C, both of whom were actually top tier at their position, and they replaced them with nobodies, and they're still dominant. Florida played how long this year with Mikkola and the corpse of OEL as top pair defensemen? Vancouver has one line worth of talent and 2 dmen.I'd be more inclined to agree if I thought that NYR's struggles had to do with effort.
All teams see fluctuations in their gumption from time to time.
What I see is a team with two fourth lines and only 3 top 4 defensemen. Combine that with league average goaltending and we aren't a contender.

This might be the post of the year !I do like the Sharks' current shade of teal. They call their current uniforms the "Evolve" uniforms.
It’s an average post at best. This might be the post of the year !
could you imagine if othmann or a rookie did that ? they would be sent to guantanamo. The first step with Zib is to play him according to the effort he's putting in. Start small. Sit him for a game. Move him to the 2nd PP unit until his ES play picks up. Take away his letter. Get progressively more severe until he wakes up or wants out. That's the issue. He feels NO pressure to change, and three successive coaches have given him anything he wanted with no accountability. It is LONG since time that he (and a couple of other guys) are taught that they aren't bigger than the team.
I said it in an earlier post: Zib was picking up his stick and whining to the ref while the game-winning goal went in behind him. That's an instant-scratch to me if I'm the coach. There is no excuse for that garbage. Even if he played fantastic the rest of the game (which he did not), that kind of move deserves an automatic one game trip to the press box. If you don't send a message, that kind of crap will not only keep happening; it will spread.

accountability has been a joke since day one of the rebuild, going back to AV. funny enough they fired him because there was such a lack of acountability? its been even more laughable since.
not once have kreider, zib, or any of the core been scratched for the same mistakes made over and over and over again. instead we benched rookies who made mistakes for the first time.
this organization hasnt gota f***ing clue
i just noticed your avatar lmao
Messier has a huge ego and is not of this time. He doesn't have experience in modern hockey. He wouldn't settle for anything less than POHO with full autonomy. It's a dangerous cocktail.I just want the organization to prioritize winning a cup instead of catering to the players. Mess (or Hank) would do that, because its what they did as players, sometimes to the chagrin of their teammates.
Agreed. And I am not going to say Drury is infallible. Like I said, he has had some mishaps, but most GMs do. Their issue is leadership and it has been that way since Gorton was here. Don't forget all the issues internally that were present with JD and Gorton. The first year Drury was here they went on a run and had a great year. However, this group has gotten complacent. Zibanejad, Kreider, etc. Too soft.Messier or Lundqvist are the only guys I want running this organization if they move on from Drury. Hank never won but we miss having a person with his competitiveness. Leadership trickles down. I know its not quantifiable on paper so people laugh at it but when you have incompetent people at the top, it effects every aspect of an organization.

There is a difference between Laf or Kakko doing something they have been doing their entire lives (playing hockey) at a higher level vs. Messier doing something he's never done before (being a GM or Team President)What about saying Lafreniere and Kakko have to "earn" bigger roles? People who have said that on here have been getting ripped for years (not necessarily by you)

Hank having a front office role, I would absolutely be on board with.
There it is.
We're all just mad we didn't win the Cup with this group and it's because they're not good enough.
Nobody wants to admit it because there's nothing you can do about the core group of players not being good enough, and this isn't a sport where you can transform the core quickly.
All of the extracurricular bullshit is just people trying to convince themselves something can be done about it or something could have been done about it.
I think I'm more upset about not getting some legitimate young stars from the 2017-2020 drafts.
I'd love for this team to win a Cup and definitely not happy that they haven't won a Cup. But winning a Cup is hard and there's a good bit of luck that comes with it (the one year we lost to TB in the ECF when our entire defense was playing on one leg is an example).
Lafreniere looks better this year. I will give him that. But not getting actual stars from those drafts hurts, especially when the expectations were just so high. At the time, I vividly remember thinking, "We're actually going to get elite, franchise altering forwards here."
Not sure what the answer is. Full rebuild sounds nice in some ways, but man, imagine doing 2017-2020 all over again? Picking high up in a draft, getting our hopes up, and getting another Kakko? Geez I don't know.....
That’s it. You need a team of killers.
Fox, Lindgren, Trouba, Goodrow, Panarin, Trocheck, Cuylle and Lafrenier are killers.
I’m not talking about talent. I’m talking about players who care more about wins than their own personal safety.
The rest of the skaters are just floating.
Gut the team.
He definitely would be. One possibility.Good to see you around here!
Do you see Lindgren as a fit for Arizona's team?
They could play the middle of the road, and still get star players with the 1st round picks just not selling, but those players a usually a few years away whereas a lottery pick can step right in. That's the main difference.I think I'm more upset about not getting some legitimate young stars from the 2017-2020 drafts.

Would rather have Messier. They should hire me
