Ok, that's better. Gregor's a cromulent 4th liner, Ostapchuk is a 3/4 guy, and a 2nd. Robins is whatever.

It sucks to lose Zetterlund but he wasn't a 1st round pick guy and this does help shore up the bottom 6.

Not a great trade, but I'm now at the point of "fine, I guess" rather than "burn down Grier's house"

Grier must have tested the waters on an extension and felt uncomfortable with what Fabian was looking for.
This is the only logical explanation

A 2nd is pretty decent value for Zetterlund, so the return isn't even bad in a vacuum, the problem is that Zetterlund was someone we should have kept, he must just have not been willing to accept a contract Mike was happy to give, otherwise it's just a dumb and bad trade

Noah Gregor is a dime-a-trillion depth player who is leaving this season. The indignity of the Sharks giving up a 4th rounder as well...

Grier better be right about Ostapchuk with this being the deal. Zetterlund may not have been a core piece but he helped make Eklund's development go a lot smoother than it could have otherwise.

How is a 2nd decent value for a 25 year old forward scoring at a top 6 rate for 2 years straight?

This is possibly my least favorite trade Grier has ever done. Is Ostapchuk any good? He feels like his ceiling is... Zetterlund? And everything has to go well. I really don't need to see Noah Gregor in teal again and the 2nd is fine but... like... what.
That’s probably overstating things, his history reads fourth liner Center at his very peak to me

I'm not a fan of the ignore button, and will generally only use it on the few true psychopaths. However, if the cadre of Grier defenders come out and start spinning this trade as good, I might not be able to resist.

Grier already has a history of getting subpar values on trade. Hell, looking at what other players fetched, it seems like he sold Granlund, Ceci, and Walman for too less...

What's weird to me is Zetterlund is exactly the kind of player the Sharks seem to want. Plays with pace, hard hitting, can skate, can shoot, drives the net... I agree with the folks here who say he must have wanted a lot for his next contract but... this couldn't wait 'til summer for a better return? Why are we trading him for garbage?
