Such an old and tired trope. There are legitimate reasons to not like the kid but ya this response is basically the "yea i can't argue with you agree to disagree."

What are the legitimate reasons? Immaturity? No one claims he’s not immature, he acknowledges it himself and if you watched the games, or looked in to it at all you would know he does get benched at times. He doesn’t pout, he responds positively and then says he deserved it to the media. Fans want players like McDavid or Crosby to have a personality, and then complain when a star player actually does show personality.

When hasn't he not pouted? When he's been scored on or gets called for a bad penalty, I've literally seen him drag his stick to the box or the bench and sit there like a child. There's ZERO leadership on the Ducks to get him or any of the other kids in line. The Ducks really miss Getzlaf in the room.

As opposed to sitting in the penalty box like a man? What is this trash?

I mean @Highmarker also made the great point that Zegras antics got Terry beat up because Terry had to come in and protect him while Zegras skated away.

I mean maybe there are legitimate reasons, but your post read like you were probably shaking with rage as you typed it out. Not much to discuss.

Zegras "antics" of taking one poke at a loose puck?
I mean yeah, talk about a completely disingenuous recounting of facts. Zegras took one swat at the puck, Beagle crosschecked him to the ice, Zegras went down a little easily, sure, but the whole thing escalated when Terry jumped in and decided to go after Beagle. Zegras' involvement was incredibly minimal.

it's more the crying to the NHL for a suspension and protection instead of taking ownership for his involvement at all. He's playing Hockey and everyone knows when the game is out of reach you don't show up your opponent, and you don't be taking pokes at the goalie with 3 minutes left in a game that's out of reach. Zegras knows this and him acting like he's oblivious as to why it happened is infuriating. He didn't even take the routine cross check to the back like a man he flopped and tried to draw a penalty, then he watches his buddy Terry get pounded for it all while he does the "hold me back hold me back routine." There is alot more to it than a simple poke to the goalie he was the spark that set that entire thing off.

lol immaturity and being a coward are legitimate reasons to not like someone. I don't think anyone can argue that he isn't either of those things. I don't see how they are "made up"
a player who's immature wouldn't say to the media that he gets carried away because he cares about winning too much and is actively working on it. that's a sign of someone recognizing their faults and working on them, the exact opposite of being immature. and coward? is it because he doesn't drop the gloves every time there's a scrum?

He doesn't drop the gloves ever. Not once. Actions speak louder than words and ya he can say something but on ice nothing has changed.

omg you actually unhinged lol. you play until the game is over. and if a team is gonna flip their shit because a player pokes at a puck then their incredibly soft. I'm starting to think you have some actual personal beef with Zegras because none of your reasons with disliking him are actually reasonable.

so any player that hasn't dropped the gloves is a coward to you? got it. makes total sense

I mean most skilled players aren't running their mouths, shooting the pucks after the whistle and slashing other players. some do it and can stand up for themselves. Zegras cannot. He needs to cut it out. I think most people can identify or know somebody like Zegras, They act tough until it gets them into trouble and then they cower. it's embarrassing. Also yes you can play until the end of the game but why try to piss the other team off? if you're up 5-0 nurse that game to a win and get the heck off the ice. Why does someone like Zegras want to get into a situation where he's gonna get his butt kicked? what does he have to gain? he's not that type of guy so him doing things like that and then refusing to answer for the consequences and instead making his teammates do it is insane.

Jeez you’re still going at it?

This is coming from someone with a bad habit of typing more than people on a message board care to read: boy that sure is a lot of words to get worked up over something that happens every f***ing game.

It was one little poke at a covered puck. It's beyond disingenuous to describe it as anything else. If he kept whacking at it repeatedly after the whistle I'd understand if one or all of the Coyotes jumped Zegras but it was a nothing play and Beagle's reaction was clearly a manifestation of frustration at the score. In any case, it's beyond ridiculous to suggest it's Zegras' fault that Terry went after Beagle and got lit up for it. If you're bending over backwards to attribute blame for that little act for the consequences of a teammate's reaction, you are absolutely not being rational. I'm not ready to say unhinged too, but you're right on that line, guy.

another old and tired trope. "you respond too much on a message board" i'd have nobody to respond to if you didn't keep responding to me so not sure how i'm the only one with this "bad habit".

i'm not the only one who saw what happened and perceived it the way i did. It may have been a little poke but the timing of the game and events that had happened prior made it an extremely dumb thing to do. If Zegras stays on his feet instead of acting like he'd been shot perhaps it ends differently. Zegras didn't have a teammate to readily hide behind once he felt contact so naturally he went into the fetal position on the ground i get it.

Double negatives are hard. And the kid doesn’t even have a statue…what a joke!
