Chara should really be asked to move I respect him for what he has done for the Bruins but at this stage the Bruins have alot of question marks he deserves another title. Im not saying we don't have a chance to win because anything is possible but moving forward it's the best plan for Boston to try and move him a few teams Z would have that chance would be ?? I am thinking Chara + 1st + prospect? for young signed D or pending RFA

Ducks
They have a few young D that would take the sting off losing Dougie
Vatanen 1.2 /Fowler 4 mil/Lindholm 900k they have alot of D and Vatanen-Lindholm will get paid next yr

Preds
With Weber and Josi adding Z can make them legit contenders
Ellis 2.5/Ekholm 1.03/Jones 925k

Avs
unlikely
Zadorov 894k/Barrie 2.6

NYI
Boychuck knows what adding Chara does for the Isles and he can retire from his original team
De Haan 1.9/Hamonic 3.8

Caps
Seem like the are going to try and get Ovie a cup with William and Oshie
Alzner 2.8/Carlson 3.9

CBJ
Not sure if ready to make a run yet but not far off they are an exciting team but not much experience in the backend
Savard 1.3/Murray 894k/Johnson 4.3

Wild
They have solid D adding a Captain and a cup winner with size like Z would complement Suter
Spurgeon 2.6/Dumba 894k

Blues
Just want Shatty
Shattenkirk 4.2

LA
Will be in the hunt again they are hungry now Lucic will be fired up
Muzzin 4/Martinez 4

A list of teams who could move a young dman to get a guy like Chara for a season or 2 and a cup run who would you want in return?

I want Z to get moved as well but it simply won't happen. We've got him for the remainder of his contract most likely. If we could move him and get cap space plus a young D such as you mentioned I would splooge everywhere.

This.

Hes not going anywhere just start planning on life after Chara 2 summers from now his cap hit will be dropping.

We also want to make sure we don't lose any good young D men to expansion frafts. We are going to be leaving CHara and Seids exposed and protecting younger assets.

Give the kids a couple years I don't think CHara will be bad this year (maybe the 2 following ones hell be too slow) we can live with it theres no reason to completely tank guys like Bergy and Krejci are in their primes and ready to win. Rask is too.

I'd like Chara to get another Cup here in Boston. This team needs a top-4 dman and some health. A scoring winger at the deadline and anything is possible. Rask Chara Seidenberg Bergeron Krejci Marchand...these guys know how to win.

On another note, how good would Chara look on the Islanders? They're almost ready to make a run

Unfortunately no one in their right mind would give up a young promising D for an aging one.

Jim Nill seems to be in win-now mode in Dallas. Spezza Hemsky Sharp... Chara would do wonders for their blue line. Oleksiak would look good in Boston. If I'm Nill I look to add Chara & call Chiarelli get him to send Ference to Dallas with money retained for the Stars 3rd pairing. Chara & Ference = instant character to that blue line

It would never happen, but could you imagine Weber and Chara shooting bombs together from the point on the power play in Nashville? There's a fun PK assignment.

LA / NH Boston?
...

Only way they trade Chara is if Chara asks for it.

I don't think he will - and I am 100% cool with that.

I agree. There is no part of me that isn't proud to see 33 in black and gold till it gets hung in the rafters.

Edit: I would like to see him choose the next captain and pass the C before he retires though. I've always felt that is the best way to do it. Sort of like how old-school wrestlers always put-over a new champ on their retirement match.

This exactly. Don't give up on this team. The core of winners is still here only now they have a chip on their shoulder for last season and Sweeny has added gritty attitude players. :handclap:

I wonder if either of those guys would waive their NTC/NMC for Dallas

Look at teams like Tampa/Montreal. Not long ago they were picking guys like Drouin and Galchenyuk because they were genuinely that bad. Only took them a year or two to turn their entire franchise around. Although the loss of Hamilton greatly sets us back, there was nothing Sweeney can really do about that. He's been improving our present without giving up future assets. Give us a year or two and who knows where our team will be. Say what you want about what Don has done, but he's shown that he's willing to makes changes... Something our old coach/GM duo was hesitant to do.

You really think he is still at the top of his game and worth his cap hit? He can still be a very very useful player... Don't get me wrong... And I trust he's working his ass off to make up for last year's very sub par performance... But I feel like he will be overused by Julien especially with the D we presently have. He has zero business on the PP if you ask me. Just not mobile enough. Rarely gets off his big slappers anymore which is his only offensive weapon and if he does it rarely gets through. I don't think Julien has the balls to keep him off the PP and use him exclusively at even strength or short handed. We shall see what happens. Either way I personally would love to be able to allocate his cash elsewhere whether it be reshaping our D or adding a true top line winger. Unfortunately he will not be going anywhere and it's just a pipe dream. I'm very much hoping he can regain form, stay healthy and that Julien and Co. keep him off the PP.

Unfortunately, Dallas seems to fleece everyone in trades (us and recently Chicago); getting pieces while never having to give up good pics or prospects.

We dance with Dallas again, I feel like we'd send Chara and a 1st to Dallas and they send us Gonchar or Travis Moen, FFS.

I agree that some team that has a "win now" mentality is the best to target. I just don't think Dallas is there yet.

Anaheim and Nashville are two possibilities, both with a plethora of young D.

Problem, is that if we trade Chara, we are absolutely in official rebuild.

I absolutely think Chara can be moved, and I don't think he's nearly as untradable as many think. Between holding some salary back and his true dollar figure in the final year being so small, he's very much a trade target.

If Iginla could be traded from the flames and Alfie from the Sens, I don't doubt that Z could get a shot out west and go out a winner. He'd still have his number in our rafters after it was all said and done.

I don't think he's as good as he's ever been. "At the top of his game."

I also think he's completely worth his cap hit. And I hope he retires a Bruin.

I'll agree somewhat about his usage however. I'd like to see maybe 22 minutes a night, rather than 25.

The difference between Iginla/Alfie and Chara is that neither guy had won anything yet. Z's already won. He might rather try and win another here than just go chasing a Cup.

Agreed. I hope he wraps up his career here

i think that was the plan last year too. if you look at his game log, he was hovering in that 22 minute average through probably mid january (and in certain games, they needed to jack his ice time up, so they did). and then at end of year they're desperately trying to make playoffs (so his TOI is back to the "too high" range).
