Very possible that if we are not in a playoff position by the trade deadline, we could end up with 5 1st's next year...

We already have 2 1st's next year, Chara Seidenberg and Eriksson (if they have good years) can fetch 1st round picks as well.

Wonder what this team will look like in 4 to 5 years from now...

Boston, in particular Sweeney and Neely would have to be willing to publicly make the statement that they are rebuilding and not championship driven this year

Personally I think this is a team that will probably be in the playoff hunt all year, but would need a major deadline acquisition and a magical playoff run where everyone is healthy and several guys play out of their mind etc in order to make a cup run.

In terms of Chara, I don't think anyone will make you an offer you can't refuse right now. Maybe at the trade deadline this year or next that offer will come.

Problem is if someone offers a #1, that offer is likely to come from a contender and really a 25+ pick in this year's draft doesn't move me much. So there would need to be a substantial young player/prospect (ie someone better than a #1 in 2016 to make me listen)

And if I am dealing Chara, then I probably move other guys as well (Eriksson), who likely won't be here when the team rebounds

So am I.

I really believe he will come to training camp prepared to make his critics and doubters eat massive crow.

My knife and fork are on the table, but there they'll stay.

Hope springs eternal in the lives of so many Bruins fans as they keep rolling those dice, hoping that the near 40 year old will turn back the clock and keep up with wingers nearly half his age.

He got us one Cup; won't be a part of us winning another. Rebuild should start with him.

The 93 Habs or Canes would beat this team in five games or less

I beg to differ. Run Roy that Mtl team couldn't have been 12 year old girls house team.

The 06 Hurricanes team wasn't good and are the definition of lightening in a bottle. Like the 2013/4 Devils that made the cup it was all luck. And then when they made the cup Edm went thru 2 goalies. Weight And Whitney or Recchi were acquired at the deadline for a pack of fun dip and pixie sticks.

That team was bad and even though it went 7 entertaining games those teams were both Florida Panther 1996 bad.

Just to make it clear I'm not advocating keeping Chara. If we can move him it's probably time... And I do think he will bounce back and be better than last year but that isn't saying much.

In my mind, moving Chara would be of more significance had he not already won the cup. As it stands now, if we move him, it's either going to be at the deadline or not at all in my opinion. He is a good mentor for younger d-men, so I think we'll keep him.

I`m actually waiting until we actually know who`s on the B`s opening night roster and give them 15-20 games together before calling them out as being a poor hockey team

I honestly have no clue how the team will do this year. It wouldn't surprise me if they were able to grind out more wins than last year (if we're relatively injury-free).

Chara should really be asked to move I respect him for what he has done for the Bruins but at this stage the Bruins have alot of question marks he deserves another title. Im not saying we don't have a chance to win because anything is possible but moving forward it's the best plan for Boston to try and move him a few teams Z would have that chance would be ?? I am thinking Chara + 1st + prospect? for young signed D or pending RFA

Ducks
They have a few young D that would take the sting off losing Dougie
Vatanen 1.2 /Fowler 4 mil/Lindholm 900k they have alot of D and Vatanen-Lindholm will get paid next yr

Preds
With Weber and Josi adding Z can make them legit contenders
Ellis 2.5/Ekholm 1.03/Jones 925k

Avs
unlikely
Zadorov 894k/Barrie 2.6

NYI
Boychuck knows what adding Chara does for the Isles and he can retire from his original team
De Haan 1.9/Hamonic 3.8

Caps
Seem like the are going to try and get Ovie a cup with William and Oshie
Alzner 2.8/Carlson 3.9

CBJ
Not sure if ready to make a run yet but not far off they are an exciting team but not much experience in the backend
Savard 1.3/Murray 894k/Johnson 4.3

Wild
They have solid D adding a Captain and a cup winner with size like Z would complement Suter
Spurgeon 2.6/Dumba 894k

Blues
Just want Shatty
Shattenkirk 4.2

LA
Will be in the hunt again they are hungry now Lucic will be fired up
Muzzin 4/Martinez 4

A list of teams who could move a young dman to get a guy like Chara for a season or 2 and a cup run who would you want in return?

if chara impresses this year... bounces back... we should probably consider moving him next year. and as you rationalize it, he might welcome the move.

right now coming off his injury... we would be selling too low. at this point we need him to develop our kids more than we need the meagher return he would fetch today

My only prediction is we won`t see the uninspired efforts. Agree or disagree with the moves Sweeney has made one thing seems to have been established and that`s the fact he won`t hesitate to make a move and I`m not so sure if I were wearing a B`s uni I would decide to play "comfortable" hockey

Think were going to see a hard working bunch here who, unlike last year, will be entertaining, not sure what that will look like in W/L but..

You think this Bruins roster is better than the 2012 Kings? Or am I missing something?

the 2012 Kings during the regular season I mean. They were absolutely nothing special before they barely squeeked into the 8 seed. They looked like an easy bounce, then they turned it on into something special
