I'm not sure where you heard that Jones' skating was a concern because that's easily his best trait. He's an incredibly fluid skater with really, really good lateral acceleration and agility. Here's an observation on him from Julie Robenhymer who watches a lot of USHL and college hockey:

Pronman; “he’s not the biggest or the fastest “

CBS Sportsline; “foot speed below average”

There were others. This is what I could quickly find.

I’m happy to hear this is not a concern going forward. Looking at his track record, he seemed like a third round pick based on the skating concerns. If he’s a great skater, then he sure looks like a terrific value.

this was a knock against him early in his draft year. He obviously improved as the season went on and it’s carried over.
I’ll agree with the sentiment that he isn’t a burner, but as you mentioned his agility is excellent. That ability to create space/separation is useful at both ends of the ice and he has the skills to do some serious work too.

I just moved out to Springfield, which is about a 30-35 minute drive from Amherst. I might have to catch a home game soon!!
I used to live there from 2014-18! I lived 5 minutes away from Smith & Wesson and was a manager there. What a small world lol. If you're ever in the mood for BBQ and soul food make sure you try Theodore's Blues, Booze and BBQ in downtown. It has the best ribs out of all the spots I've tried.

Wow he was only 4'10 as a High School Freshman? Glad he grew a foot the next few years haha.

Had no idea he was a forward until around 12-13 years old either. Thanks for sharing this
I just wanted to check up on his game today and when I searched his name I somehow caught that video.

Not a whole lot going in with his game right now, I think they’re down 1-0, but I saw Jones took a cross checking penalty while short handed, so I guess we know he’s PKing already
