He's been great, just what we thought we'd get when we signed him.
excellent.
Should we expect him to stay on the top line and first powerplay?

It’s not like he’s been glued in either of those spots all season.excellent.

Well when everyone was healthy Jesse was the starter on pp1. Hyman has been on the top line though.Yes but I’ve missed the Woodcroft era until the third period today. I’m looking for opinion’s from people who’ve watched

Im a big fan of the player. I figure there should be at least 3 solid years before we need to worry about his contract, so if he can keep this up until we need to look at the McDrai situation I'll be okay with it.As a Leaf fan I like checking in on Zach Hyman threads from time to time to see how he's doing. Happy to see he hasn't soured for you guys yet. I know he had a rocket fast start where he scored in bunches and was near or at a Pt/game. Saw his production had regressed to the mean, and I was worried that some may have turned on him. Happy to see he's still getting the love he deserves.
Zach has always been the type of player that doesn't need to hit the scoresheet to make a massive impact on the game.
Yup, that's kind of how I saw that deal for you guys. You're getting a unique style player in the prime of their career for the most important years of McDrai. Once those initial 3-4 years of Zach's deal is up the Oilers could be in an entirely different situation potentially. Realistically if you guys don't have a sizeable amount of success by that time, it may change McDrai's belief in the organization. The Hyman contract would be the least of their concerns at that point.Im a big fan of the player. I'm seeing some disparity on Hyman vs Kane views in respective threads.
In terms of production its a wash. Kane is matchign everything Hyman does, and with Kane much more likely to bolt into bigger numbers. Lets remember Kane started mid season from a standing start. In comparison even a player of Eichels caliber has been useless in Vegas. Its hard to start like this, and hit the ground running like Kane has.
But what stands out is Kane is+7 and low GA, and Hyman is -4 and HIGH GA on the season.
So why really is Kane getting meh reactions or just good, and so many here saying Hyman has been excellent?
If anything Kane has been the better player here. I think with Hyman because of the style of play, that he carries puck more it seems like he's doing more. But Kane is more like Drai in that some of what he does offensively just not being noticed. He's a dangerous player in Ozone, and can score in a moment. Hyman is more the energy that people seem to defer to. But Hyman had a pretty bad stretch before he got hot lately.
Hyman is -6 on NHL stats in EV on ice Goal differential. He's been on ice for 40GA which is brutal considering its much higher than his GFON.
In comparison Kane has been on ice for only 2GA in 14GP.
lmfaoYou have some strange takes on what makes a player good or bad. Really disagree with most of your takes. Hyman can singlehandedly make a difference. Kane has been the opposite, needing other player to do the hard work to make it work with him. He does remind me of draisaitl in that sense, except draisaitl demands the puck and regularly makes terrible decisions with it, both players stand around hoping something good happens. Hyman makes good things happen.
lmfao
Poster follows up bolded after stating bolded. Absolutely ridiculous post.
Yeah trust me, with that kind of thought process we won't agree on much.
One player, Draisaitl, is MVP caliber player and without McD here would be best player on team any year running. Constant allstar. The Other is Hyman, who you apparently feel is a better player that only "makes good things happen" despite being a minus player all year with way more GAOn than he should have.
Oh, and Drai has 74pts while "standing around doing nothing" and Hyman, who, "makes the good things happen" has 35 pts despite being granted similar usage.
Safe to say you don't scatch the surface of comprehending Drais game and what he brings to a club.
What can help them is if we can get healthy. That really short period of time when everyone was healthy was quite exciting, with Nuge and Hyman on the third line. That would be a cup contending team if they could go on roll, and goaltending held their endDrai and Hyman are the two players I'd expect to be the forward MVPs if this team can get deeper into the playoffs
He's been okayish at best. I don't get the glorifying of him to be honest.
He is playing with a couple of the top offensive guys in the world.
He had a long drought scoring wise earlier this year that coincided with our slide.
We are all about 'better 5 on 5 play' and he is -4
We are all about being a totally different team getting the likes of him and keith and foegle etc and the team is no different than in the past as in have to be carried by two players most nights.
Hell yes…..Drai and Hyman are the two players I'd expect to be the forward MVPs if this team can get deeper into the playoffs
He was also coming off injury if I remember correctly last ploffs. We shall see he's definitely built for it.Dude is a stud. I think he's going to be massive in the playoffs (I know he didn't have a good playoffs last season but he's been even better here in the regular season)
