I'd just like to see a little more compete level in nuge that I have seen from him. He's making 5 Mil a year and really should be more of an offensive weapon or at least on the effort level. Watch Hyman and Kane around the crease in front of Markstrom. You basically need a bull to move them or get the puck off them.

Nuge couldn't tell you what number Markstrom wears he's so worried about getting in close.
Sorry but this take is just stupid. Why can't Connor go out there and beat Lucic's ass? Is it because he doesn't work hard enough? Everyone has their tools that they work with. Having 2 kids in competitive sports it's very obvious that some kids have less tools to work with or are more limited in what they can do. RNH is above all else a very smart player, a jack of all trades but a master of none. He doesn't have Connor's speed, Leon's strength, backhand passing or shot, Hyman's strength, etc. but he is still a damn good player if people would stop expecting him to be an ES offensive beast. He gets run of the mill linemates and isn't a -10 while Connor pulls along an obviously hurt Leon. In the playoffs you need everyone to win, it sure would be nice if the fans would stop shitting on guys and instead start to appreciate what they bring to the table. If you need to shit on players wait until the offseason. Right now we are all in and as fans we should be supporting our players and not running them into the ground.

I was about to say basically the same thing but your anecdote puts it much more succinctly than anything I would have written.

It’s early but we’ll worth the contract so far. Keep this up for the next 3-4 years I’m ok. Year 6 and 7 might hurt but he is playing like a 5 million dollar player rn , can’t complain

Thing with Hyman is that even when he loses a step or two, he’s such a hard working player that does so many good things around the puck that he should still be effective in the bottom 6.

And with the cap going up post covid, it’s not like a Lucic albatross where you need that money to be spent in the top 6, that will likely be 3rd liner money within a few years.

I'm really impressed with Hyman's effort and some of his puck possession. He had a great play tonight where he had a takeaway and in transition made the zone, got pinned against the boards, but maintained possession and even got out into the slot for a decent chance.

Pretty sure "perimeter Hopkins" made the play on the PK to steal the puck and spring Hyman on the breakaway for Hyman's only goal last game...

Why does this have to be a competition? You'd almost think Hyman and Nuge were on opposing teams based on your comment.

Yep. Nuge and Hyman have crazy good chemistry, and compliment each other’s games. Let’s just be happy we have both, because both are seriously outplaying their contracts right now between their offense, 200ft game, and insane PK ability

Yep. He’s going to be worth every penny and then some for most of this deal, and then he should age like a guy like Dustan Brown, who you still want out there in the middle 6 when he’s not quite worth his deal at the end

How does it feel to know the only rebuttal you have is "I hope he fails next game so I can be right for once"?

You're flat out wrong, just admit it.
If I was wrong I would admit it.

If the Oilers want to win a championship they will have to be all in on defensive zone coverage in all three zones.

The Oilers dominated the Flames last night but there were multiple instances of questionable positioning.

Unless these shortcoming are corrected, not just with Hyman, moving forward poor positioning will be exploited.

The flames didn’t have close to as many chances as we did. Going into the 3rd they had maybe 3-4 grade A looks.

It's clear you don't know what you're talking about when it comes to hockey. Have a great day big guy.

I understand the Oilers won the game convincingly last night. The Flames failed to take advantage of Oiler players being out of position.

The Oilers need to play as a cohesive unit.
