Welcome to the Oilers, Zach!
After all the speculation and anticipation, it's great to make it official. Looking forward to many great seasons!!!

Nuge - McD - Hyman
Foegele - Drai - JP

?

I like JP with McD but think he might suit Drai better. Plus Yamo gets pushed down to the third line which isn't terrible either.

This is the gold here.

Hyman is very much a dig around pucks player, creates some chaos. Nuge is good at getting in those spots, getting some rebounds, some open looks and I feel the combo of McD, a dig energy player, and Nuge could pace out well and work. I like the size on the Drai line and have a wrecking ball OZONE puck control line with some chaos.

I feel Yama being squeezed out of this topsix and that ain't bad. We had to get better.

I prefer Yamo not being in the top 6 to start the year. His numbers in the playoffs and just going back to the last 25-30 games in regular season is poor. No way should you be scoring 1-2 goals playing on a line with Drai for 25-30 games to close the year out.

I think Yamo being paired with McLeod and Benson/Holloway and playing sheltered minutes is the best route for him to find his game and get the offence going again. Take the pressure off of him as well.

I mean he could of had that amount or more elsewhere. He chose here
38 million and being McDavids winger , yea it's a no brainer I have not seen him play to many games maybe 10 or so but I never was eye opened impressed , but who knows maybe I was missing something

Zach’s family is loaded as well. I’m sure he’s happy to be making this money of his own accord but like you said, if it was all about money he would have signed elsewhere. He seems legitimately happy to be here, which you can’t say about every player (regardless where they are signing). He possesses an infectious and positive personality which is going to be good in the room

Feels like Hyman has been here forever

Agreed, oddly enough it’s almost like he’s always been here. Watching the interviews post game and today, I get the impression that they have a fairly tight lockerroom which probably helps with that. Likeable dude too, so he probably fits like a glove anywhere he goes

Pretty sure "perimeter Hopkins" made the play on the PK to steal the puck and spring Hyman on the breakaway for Hyman's only goal last game...

Why does this have to be a competition? You'd almost think Hyman and Nuge were on opposing teams based on your comment.

I'd just like to see a little more compete level in nuge that I have seen from him. He's making 5 Mil a year and really should be more of an offensive weapon or at least on the effort level. Watch Hyman and Kane around the crease in front of Markstrom. You basically need a bull to move them or get the puck off them.

Nuge couldn't tell you what number Markstrom wears he's so worried about getting in close.
