Your Rebuild Opinion? Next Move Coming?

ide like getting kreider cheap n short term at 2x6.5 to bring size n ruggedness , would you know the perceived cost ?

Think they have to shed out 4M in cap space, to be able to sign their RFAs.

So 6.5M Kreider out and cheaper player in.

Kreider <> 3rd + Berggren?
Kreider <> 2nd + 50% retended Compher 2.550M ?
Kreider <> 2nd + 50% retended Tarasenko 2.375M ?

Kreider fills a need but I don't like his age. We need to get younger. Mid 20's late 20's max.

If it’s true that the red wings are really going to go young and do a semi tank year this year, do you guys think we might take on zibenejad for an obscene haul ??

5 more years of Zibanejad. I think he’s going to have a rebound year next season but I’m not expecting good seasons beyond that.

Zibanejad, K’Andre Miller + Cuyle for Ras and Larkin?

WHy? ZIbanejad is 32 years old, 3 years older than DBoss and just had his worst season in 7 years (points per game). He's also a later bloomer and not a natural scorer.

Only reason why you bail NYR out of that crap contract is if you want this team to tank for the next 5 years.

Who has a very good history with Larks on team USA. It is a two year deal and gives us one of the best net front guys. I am not giving them anything, but if New York is giving up things to get rid of our 1LW next year we should take it.

You want to "take" a player who had the worst year of his career that has 2 years at 6.5 million per year left?

I think Yzerman's dumpster diving is rubbing off on you.

Hard pass on Kreider.

He wants Cuylle back and, yeah, he's tanking for the next couple of years. If NYR eats a bit of Zib's salary, then we eat a bit, I think the guy becomes a much easier move for us to make.

I don't know. I could get behind getting Zib and futures on the cheap to bolster the top6, have a harder time with a soft reboot sending Larkin the other way.

Just like Zibenejad, what NYR wants to package with it makes a big difference. I'd be looking at pulling at least Miller back to get us to eat Kreider's deal.

I do think the discussion on the last page puts into relief that there are very few teams this year that are going to have to make very difficult decisions on guys ... but the Rangers are one of them and my top candidate to try and take advantage of.

Right now they have 8M in cap space - and they have Miller and Cuylle both as RFA's due some decent sized contracts, and I would assume Drury is going to want to make a splash in FA and compete now. They're going to have to shed salary and/or not sign both Miller and Cuylle - both of who I think would be great candidates for the Wings.

Yeah, the question with Kreider is whether he's just following the natural aging process and is on the inevitable downward slide, or whether that's just the overall stink from the Rangers last season?

Over his time on the left wing, he's averaged 0.387 goals per game. Last season he hit 0.324, so definitely a drop off. The last time he had an average lower than that was when he was 24 years old.

His power play goals per 60 fell off a cliff this past season, but 5v5 goal production wasn't far off what it's been over recent seasons. The drop off is in an area where we are legitimately good.

I don't know that Kreider would be a Plan A, but I could see a scenario where he helps us bide our time as a Plan C or D.

My Plan A would be to gauge whether Kyle Connor is going to renew in Winnipeg and if not I'd trade quite a bit to get him with the understanding he'd sign an extension. There are very few players who can score like he can 5v5. If he has any interest at all in coming back to Michigan that is probably your best shot at acquiring a truly elite player.

kreider had 20 goals last seasson after 2 season in a row of 30+ and 3 seasons ago of 50 and the whining cry babys here right him off as trash . not to mention hes a big mountain man net front whose a perfect power play weapon that we dont have . and in two seasons his cap hit gone when we need it to sign developed prospects

all short term except jeannot n hague . make team bigger n more rugged at no cost to long term cap .
and make team better by replacing petry , mott , smith , and hopefully taresenko n HOLL . come 2027/28these vets are out and prospects are ready , and weve the cap to sign dannyson-asp-mbn-etc

people are wanting bennet , ehlers , garikov at 7 years when theyll all be beyond prime in 2/3 ,
and when we will start needing cap for all the good prospects yzerman has drafted .
YZERMANS PLAYING FOR A DYNASTY NOT A RAMBLING IFFY WRECK

Yeah, we have ZERO legit net-front players. Would be nice to have one. Then others could learn something about that from Kreider.
