lol. No. No it's not. That will be good reason for Yzerman to get retired.

He is not going to be free agent yet, he is a junior (D+3) next season
Fodder for all those, who are on the Gavrikov train with me. +14,3 is the best defense rating in the league. We need to get our hands on this guy.

I think if you are trying for Quinn you obviously will know where you are picking by that time and you are giving up the 12th overall in the deal. I'd pay a lot to be honest, he's a norris guy and Wallinder+++ other Wallinder types doesn't get it done. You'll have to finally make that hurtful decision of actually trading someone with value like Ed or ASP.
That's without the brother stuff, with the brother stuff I dunno. You'd really screw up if you traded a couple big pieces and he's a Devil in two years.
I'm not advocating this move. Just showing an example where the money works out and the assets exchanged MIGHT be in the realm of discussion.I think if you are trying for Quinn you obviously will know where you are picking by that time and you are giving up the 12th overall in the deal. Not enough going Vancouver's way.TO DETROIT: Elias Pettersson ($800k retained by Vancouver), Quinn Hughes
TO VANCOUVER: Dylan Larkin, Ben Chiarot, Justin Holl, ASP, 2025 1st round pick
A few issues,I'm not advocating this move. Just showing an example where the money works out and the assets exchanged MIGHT be in the realm of discussion.

The Wings make a huge splash with Hughes and take a gigantic roll of the dice with Pettersson. For those buying into the current Larkin drama, it also emphatically shuts the door on that topic.
The Canucks get out of the Pettersson drama while acquiring a very good two-way center, a decent defenseman, a Hughes-lite defenseman about to enter the league on an ELC, and a decent draft pick.
Aside from whether the trade itself is balanced, my one question is whether Yzerman would have any interest in Pettersson.
Well that’s why I’m saying no one will trade anything major if they know he’s leaving 100% in 2 yrs . Zero chance in hell we’d deal a Kasper, edvinsson etc.. no matter how good Hughes isI think if you are trying for Quinn you obviously will know where you are picking by that time and you are giving up the 12th overall in the deal. Larkin wants to play in the playoffs 0% chance he waives for Vancouver so it’s pointlessI'm not advocating this move. Just showing an example where the money works out and the assets exchanged MIGHT be in the realm of discussion.

Indeed. He is exactly what the doctor ordered.Like I said in another thread, getting Gavrikov would be like adding our McDonagh.
I’d go as high as 6 years 8.25 mil. With the cap increases we can afford a defense corps of Gavrikov, Edvinsson and Seider making 8-9 mil each. ASP won’t make big bucks for 3 years.
It sounds like he may not make it to free agency, but if he does I hope we make a strong offer. No idea if he liked playing for McLellan, that could be a factor as well.Gavrikov and Seider pairing would be such a treat to watch, just make it happen Stevie.
This will be one of those contracts that won't look too hot the last 2 years. But it'll be worth it, imagine 4 years of what could be a top-3 pair in the league.
That's a shame in that case, haven't followed the story so closely. It sounds like he may not make it to free agency, but if he does I hope we make a strong offer. No idea if he liked playing for McLellan, that could be a factor as well.
