Your Rebuild Opinion? Next Move Coming?

Yeah, that is my hope. McLellan knows Gavrikov really well, and assuming Gavrikov liked him and Yawney, that would be a perfect signing. Pair Ed and Mo and then put Gavrikov next to ASP and let him cook.

Then next summer you go after Kyle Connor if he hits free agency. I'd also be open to trading for his rights if it comes down to that and he'd be willing to sign an extension.
These ^ are my exact thoughts.

People still think LA is a destination city for hockey players.

50% of your paycheck going to a foreign gov’t and 95% of the city calling you the devil bc you happen to have been born in Russia.

If we’re the top-bidder, I think we get him. And we sure as hell better be

False. You didn’t address anything i said either lol. There’s a reason Tampa hardly lost a step after replacing Serg with Moser. Edvinsson is a closer comparable than Johansson lol.

There’s a reason they didn’t lose that much of a step. He isn’t a game breaker.

I actually think @ElProfessor is right on; in fact that’s an overpayment.

Two 2nds
Mazur
AlJo
And more for someone who’s a mid top four? Someone like Danielson or Buch?

Thats nuts. No. It’s incompetence if SY made that deal

Who would you have given up for sergachev??? Its easy to look at geekiest stats now and say we could have done better

Would you have given up kasper or Danielson??? That woulda been the price
I think the bigger problem is Moser. Tampa was in need of a cost effective defenseman that can replace Sergachev in the top 4. They were looking for cap relief without totally ruining their blueline. We can't move Seider or Edvinsson and we don't have any other top 4 D so it's hard for us to replicate that part of the deal.

I'd happily move Danielson + 2025 1st for Sergachev. I just don't think that's the kind of package that Tampa was looking for.

... this is literally the post you made that I responded to:

Am I supposed to just pretend you didn't say something incredibly simplistic?

Do you even look at the usernames when you reply? Lol. Yeah, that's all I know about hockey.

I'm not gonna write a 2 page essay every time I post, I don't have time for that. In the end though, a GM is evaluated by W/L record, and quite frankly Stevie is historically bad. The team is literally setting NHL records for futility. Anyone that tries to justify it deserves to be mocked.

Overall this looks good. I hope we have some Griffins who can push for roster spots at forward. Söderblom and Ras haven't done much, IMO. It's time for Ammo to push for PT.

Gavrikov and or Provarov would come with bloated contracts. If they don't get offered bloat they are just going to re-sign with their teams. Yzerman doesn't usually do bloat unless its a lower impact short term player. I think Yzerman would offer more a sweetheart deal for the wingss and they will both pass and stay where they are. I would still rather see where ASP fits before we sign a long term D.

Yzerman has been signing from the free agent bargain bin to keep the franchise in playoff contention while his prospects develop. There is no prospect currently ready for that final top 4 spot and Gavrikov would be a good use of money for that spot if he's willing to play for McLellan again.

If we are going to spend big money on free agents, it has to be plug and play in spots where our drafting has failed. We got 3 very good defensemen through the draft, Gavrikov would fill that 4th spot.

Gavrikov at 7 x 6 years
Fabbro at 4 x 4
With ASP coming up in either the season or the following that locks up Detroit’s top 4 for a great deal of time.

Dump Holl, Gus and Tank and there’s the money we need for these guys without impacting future offseason acquisitions.

Then we look at a scoring winger/center to play with Larkin.

Now all the wings need to do is dump Compher and Berggren and rebuild the 3rd line. It was a strength in 23-24 but a liability in 24-25.
