Johansson (hopefully not), Wallinder or Buium is an upgrade to match over Moser.

Mazur and a 2nd matches Geekie. Can throw some extras in too.

The biggest disappointments I’ve had in the Yzerplan — the biggest mistakes he’s made — were Sergachev and Chychrun.

Two young LHD’s who would’ve been great long-term top-pair LHD partners for Seider. Who both got traded at last yr’s draft for almost nothing.

Was very, very disappointed Yzerman was either out of the loop, or didn’t match for either.

Hell, we could’ve gotten both and had the best D in hockey for the next decade

I agree Yzerman sucks at everything but drafting but how do we blow the sergachev one away? JJ Moser is better than everyone except Seider and Ed. We have no NHL d that are close to him otherwise. Unless you wanted to attach Kasper/danielson/asp, idk how we could have beat that.

Chychrun for sure, a prospect could have worked there, or even just a higher pick.

Edit: just saw others response. Lol it’s clear when yall never watch any other teams. JJ Moser is a #3 dman. Johansson and our C tier d prospects aren’t even in the same ballpark. Geekie played decent in the NHL and had a very good 24 games in the AHL. his value prior to this year was at least equal to Kasper.

I was thinking tank the first couple. Possibly 3,. but Ed was the player I wanted so the 3rd didn't matter.

We should be playoff level by year 6. Stevie is past due to be fired already by any NHL standard. That's why our group gets completely MOCKED on the main forum, why everyone here calls it "trolling".

JJ Moser is a 24 year old #3D. He’s the same quality of player as Edvinsson today though I believe Ed has way more potential. It would take ASP to equal his value, not Johansson lmao. Johansson + 1st + 2nd is MAYBE equivalent.

Gavrikov is a top 5-10 defensive defenseman in the league. He would be absolutely perfect beside ASP allowing Ed and Seider to play together. Anybody comparing him to Copp/Compher is out to lunch and has likely never watched LA play a game. Those deals were trash the second they were signed and we were rightly ridiculed on the main boards for them. Gavrikov is 10x the player of both these guys.

There's also zero chance he gets 9M. This makes no sense. Neal Pionk just signed a 6-year extension at 7M per year as a pending UFA and he's better offensively than Gavrikov but slightly worse defensively. He's also an RHD which is a premium. There is zero shot Gavrikov gets 2M more than him.

Chychrun signed an 8-year deal for 9M playing an OFD role on Washington, and has been a far better player than Gavrikov his entire career while also being 3 years younger.

All these guys aren't stupid, they also know the cap is about to rise. These recent extensions to pending UFAs should give you an idea for what guys will sign for in the off-season.

Gavrikov will most likely come in at around 6.5-7.5 for 5-6 years.

Yeah, that is my hope. McLellan knows Gavrikov really well, and assuming Gavrikov liked him and Yawney, that would be a perfect signing. Pair Ed and Mo and then put Gavrikov next to ASP and let him cook.

Then next summer you go after Kyle Connor if he hits free agency. I'd also be open to trading for his rights if it comes down to that and he'd be willing to sign an extension.

You are just plain wrong. Moser is WAY better than you are pretending. If we had Moser instead of Johansson or Chiarot this year we are firmly in the playoffs. Wallinder and Buium are nearly the same age as Moser and are not really close to the NHL still. Their value is almost nothing in a trade like this.

This isn’t EA NHL where a collection of shit fills the trade bar and gets you the elite guy. Geekie was a 11th OV pick 2 years ago at the time of the trade, that is worth way more than B prospects and 2nd round draft picks. Liek it’s not even close.

Gavrikov gets a ton of defensive zone FO starts and plays a boatload of PK minutes, 200+ for the past 4 years. Just a perfect overall fit. Here's hoping the McLellan connection pays off.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but Moser played 20 mins a night in Arizona and is now down to 19 in Tampa. Johansson played 16 mins a night in Detroit. So Moser played more mins on a better team and also more short-handed mins, although he's not a fixture on the PK. He's played 4x as many NHL games and the vast majority of stats indicate he's the better player right now.

With over 250 NHL games we have a good feel for who Moser is, while Johansson is still a work in progress, but nothing to this point suggests they are truly comparable.
