Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. I have a hard time rewarding Dougie with moving up to PP1 with how putrid his D has been lately. Like earn the promotion and take care of your back end game first. Plus he's totally pinched at the wrong times leading to breakaways and SHGs. Maybe tell him he can move up if he tightens up his play to motivate him.

18-20 Schenider had an array of injuries, this guy is literally healthy and absolutely nosediving this team.
We have just become so accustomed to Vanacek being unable to go from post to post to make a save that we don't know what a good goaltender looks like.
Three of the goals have been wide open shots. It’s not all on Vitek. He’s been meh but the team around him has been as well.

I don't think there is an "answer". There's just an additional lottery ticket. That's why I'm sort of like...meh...at some point it's not going to matter.
I think this year the answer is less likely to be a "name" and more likely to be someone like Montembeault or something of that ilk. Then Fitz will tackle the position for a bigger possibility in the off season.

Ignoring the goalies, I’d expect the Devils skaters to really outplay the Islanders, instead the Islanders skaters are the better bunch so far tonight.

They were last year stands to reason the same this year. Imagine if they got legit goaltending whatever the price is make it an offer a team can’t refuse to get one

This goes much further than bad goaltending, I think Ruff is losing the team. Where is the intensity, heart and soul we saw last year. It is gone.
Fitz let the coach stay here longer than he should have. I like Ruff but he is not a coach who has won Stanley Cups. I wasn't happy this summer but figured the team would be good again either way.
Outside of goaltending we have lots of talent. I am not seeing the transitional game and intensity in the offensive zone this year.

Something needs to change, Fitz needs to make a move, A shakeup is needed.
Cory was horrible. How many first shot goals did he give up? Anytime Cory was in goal was an automatic loss. But Ruff isn't helping here. Akira should have been in goal tonight from the start.

We need a major shakeup. New coach, new goalie, new D. Fitz needs to act in the next few weeks or this season is lost. If he doesn’t do anything then honestly he’s on the hot seat too. It was obvious to anyone that goaltending was an issue and he did nothing to resolve it

Rangers winning games with Quick, Kings winning games with Talbot, Coyotes winning games with Connor Ingram yet our supposed stater can't go a game with 3+ goals and even if when we play a good offensive Sabres team like the 2000 Devils, he gave up 2 GOALS.
I don’t agree with some saying the islanders have been the better team. I don’t see that at all

Dano pumps the team up. It is obvious he does this to excite fans. Knowledgeable fans know what looks good and what doesn't.
We are not pressuring the puck but neither are we protecting the middle nor stopping the cross ice passes. We are essentially doing nothing on the PK, not really getting possession either even when we seem to win the draw.
And based on that last power play, we are also getting a little static on the man advantage too. Just a hair slower on everything and the guys without the puck not moving as much either.
We deserve to be down 2 right now. We are playing a crappy and nonchalant and disorganized game. We are not looking like a good hockey team right now. Our defensemen are substandard as a group but as a team we are sloppy and can’t get out of our own way. Sorry to be saying this. We’ve regressed badly since last season and deserve the sub 500 record we bid well to come out of this game with.
Not sure we have a comeback in us here. Certainly hope so.
