Why would a team with a top goalie trade him to us for anything short of Nemec or Luke? What leverage do we have to make a deal?

Like, do you seriously think a mediocre 1st with conditions and some AHL/college prospects are going to be enough?

Vitek was an average goalie until suddenly he wasn’t. Bargain shopping is how we got into this mess. Either you pay premium assets for a premium goalie and lose a core piece, or you roll the dice on another Vitek. And we have this same conversation in 12 months.

Very true. Never mentioned Vanecek having an absolutely horrific year but want to blame a guy who not getting to the slot fast enough.

Sorry guys, but his record is good, the other goalies are terrible.

We may win in spite of him, but he really hasn't been a drag on our playoff hopes.
