A regulation win had us at 66 points, meaning that we'd be 9th, a point ahead of Washington, and could be tied by Islanders but we have the tiebreaker, and we could still be surpassed by Pittsburgh. We would be able to use the one game in hand to come /within/ one of Philadelphia but Philadelphia controls that destiny, and with the two games in hand, we could have tied Tampa. That's the difference between a game here, a game there folks.

It's only possible if we shit can Lindy and find a NHL goalie. And Dawson Mercer is not untouchable. If that's who we need to include in a trade then do it! 27 points and a -13. I like the kid and all but, please....

Oh that was preseason? I thought it was up to date. In any case the playoff chances are nonzero, the teams surrounding NJ have deep flaws too.

Buying rentals clearly out of the question of course, if NJ can't find a longer term G solution then they need to sell off Toffoli for dry powder to fix it in the offseason and just let the team as built try to make it. If they can find a body to keep Daws/Schmid in the AHL for waiver eligibility next year that's fine too.

We have bodies to play to keep Daws and Schmid's waiver eligibility going. I wonder if that's why Daws has been ridden, so that they didn't add GP to Schmid, in which case, WOOF you threw the season away instead of giving Schmid one of three games in rotation while he's up.

Poulter could have been tried, but wasn't. Kinkaid is ... no worse than these. I don't get it.

agreed maybe because sometimes he gets in too close and tries to shove it through the pad on the ice lol. All in all their shootout/breakways have been trash attempts

Kinkaid is definitely worse than these at this point. He’s probably right about on par with Andrew Hammond when we had him.

He’s somehow been worse in the AHL than anybody we have had play NHL games this year and so has Kallgren. And they don’t even play on the same AHL team.

Kinkaid has an .878% in 19 games with AHL Chicago and Kallgren has an .879% in 14 games with AHL Utica.

I’m all for bringing one or both of these guys up. Its junk time at this point.

I rag on Timo and Hughes all the time but they showed up last night. Nico had a bad game. The defense and more so the goaltending sunk us.

It’s over when you take a look at the schedule starting next week. We also have no viable backup either.

I turned it off after the 1st Anaheim shit goes through Daws. The 2nd goal he could of had to pathetic. Waste of a very good team and your gonna lose all of the momentum and energy you had from the fans. I'm just disgusted with everything.

How anyone can watch this team and think it's a playoff team is beyond me. If the current roster figures something out and squeaks in just to get pummelled in the first round, so be it. But man, Fitz better not be stupid enough to think there is a trade out there that makes us contenders. Or that this team is close to contender status and should start mortgaging the future to win now.

That's an excellent point.

It's symptomatic of everything that is wrong also. We don't finish on our chances, play a soft defense and then we are playing ketchup for the rest of the game.
