Can you check to see if Vitek ever won a Shootout? 🤔
He did against the Sharks last year.

Was he also in net against the Capitals when we beat them in the shootout last year? I remember we won it, but I don’t remember who played in goal.

VV has a .883% sv% and a 3.35 GAA. The team winning in spite of his play is not sustainable. We’ve lost plenty because of him. We haven’t won any because of him.

Team is pacing at 105 points when Vitek starts. They win more than not even with bad goaltending.

There is still time for improvement which you constantly ignore.

They have literally improved over the last month which you constantly ignore.

I get being down at the moment. Its a frustrating season so far. But you are being over the top down which doesn’t do you any favors. It’s clouding a lot of your outlook on the season.

We are running at a 105 pt pace when Vitek starts

The team is obviously good enough to win in spite of goaltending

I don't think this is sustainable, he's getting ridiculous goal support, but I did think before last night that he also has to play slightly better too - maybe he just can't, because it does seem like his fundamentals are all messed up, maybe irrevocably. Still haven't seen the last 3 Bruins goals but no one's saying they're great.

He was bad last night. The team has thankfully cleaned up their game over the last month which has helped Vitek to get to a .915 save percentage in the 5 games before Boston. In his last 8 starts Devils had a 112 pt pace. We will continue to win in spurts but will also get killed by Vitek here and there. It’s just the way it will be until we find an upgrade or Daws can take the ball and run with it

That may be enough for the staff to stick their forks in him when it finally starts happening. If last night didn’t stick a fork in him getting the brunt of starts. Bevause evidently the other 16 or 18 shit games he’s had this year didn’t do the trick.

I remember there was talk back in 2020 about how Blackwood with only a .915% had a somewhat unsustainable winning percentage lol.

Vitek is this year’s Martin Jones from last year, who had a lot of wins, but the rest of his numbers were also like Vitek’s this year.

The fourth goal was a bad goal from Shattenkirk.

The fifth goal wasn’t at all bad, but he still managed to looked really bad on it because he’s Vitek and Vitek looks really bad on almost everything these days.

I think it was basically a partial 2 on 0, but it still somehow hit his arm and went in.

If he had a little more luck he probably could have recognized that he could have possibly covered that one up under him. It looked like he could have possibly had it.

Not saying he has no luck right now, because he actually does with all the post hits and guys that have been missing wide open nets on him in his last 5 “Good games”. Not to mention almost bobbling dump ins two different times in one of those games. I can’t even remember if that was the last Bruins game or the Flyers one. It was one of them.

We just beat them two weeks ago in what was Vitek’s only one goal game of the season lol.

Meh, I don’t think so. I think it’s unsustainable to win in front of goaltending this bad.

I’m not down on the group as a whole necessarily, and I’m not as down as you think I am, I just try to be as objective as possible with what I see. I’m down on the goaltending and I’m down on the coaching/system.

For the record, I’m acknowledging that there’s been improvements, especially from the defense. But the play is still not good enough imo. I rarely come out of games thinking that they look good this season, and that to me is concerning and shouldn’t be happening as much as it is with the talent they have on the roster.

I’ve been here a while, you know I’m the first to give praise when it’s granted. I’d love nothing more than this team to play consistent hockey with a sound system and average to solid goaltending. It’s unfortunately not the case right now.

I’m tired of seeing Vitek.

And I’m also really f***in tired of talking about him too, but I also refuse to stop talking about him until they refuse to stop sending him out there for 66% of the games.

All he’s gonna do is get people fired and cause potential panic trades like Gibson or Markstrom.

See what we have in the kids. There ain’t no future here for him.

I’d like to send a pick to cap dump him somewhere this offseason.

He’ll never be good here again. Ever again. 5 games of .914% isn’t impressive at all for a goalie that had 20 games of .878% or something before that. It wasn’t even .870% since the playoffs started before that .914% handful happened.

Just heard a ridiculous rumor :

McLeod for Gibson.

Great. Just trade our best faceoff man for "that".

EDIT : Oh. You already heard of it. Maybe I should spend more time in the Devils Discussion thread than here so I don't repeat what everyone already discussed 10 times over, eh?

Seeing the Luke goal makes me happy but so pissed.

We had this game at 2-0 in the 2nd. Should’ve never lost this game. Sort of inexcusable really.
They weren’t playing well even at 2-0. If say they were up by 2 going into the 3rd then yea it’s inexcusable to lose/not get a point at least. There was just so much time left at 2-0. I’m just pissed they self destructed in 5 mins. It’s pathetic and an indictment on the coaches and players. I don’t remember any games like that last year and we have had multiple this year already.

All I remember is him not being able to stop one shooter on multiple occasions 🤔

I think there was only one more, but it did happen

Edit: that one OT loss to Rags. Up 2-0 early, then 3-1 late in 2nd. Rags tied it in 2nd quickly (two goals in ten seconds, Devils were sleepwalking). Then Lost. Sound familiar?

They can win regular season games but I can't see this team making a huge playoff run with this goaltending/coaching
Would require a Panthers like turnaround in net like we saw last year. It could happen with the Devils improving D play, goalies are frankly weird.

Missed this game going to a play.

Checked score before play started at 8pm: “2-0. We’re never going to lose, I love this team!”

Checked score at intermission: “2-4. 4 GA against in the 2nd? I hate sports. And all life.”

Some big emotional swings there.
