Gallagher from MTL.

Then I'd try to flip Petry + for RNH (I saw an EDM fan suggest this in another thread).

Hate to do this but Nylander straight up. We have a glut of RW with similar up side and while he could be our second line centre we already have that in Kadri. As Nylander is still on his ELC, maybe a slight add on Minny part. I know you said one for one but just saying.

Question is how is his hockey IQ and Defence if he is already top 4 with the chance top be maybe a #2 then its a pretty fair trade.

MTL fans turning on Gallagher/Pacioretty all of a sudden?

The second any player from MTL hits a mini-slump, "TRADE HIM!!!!!!"

The only reason Pacioretty is being thrown at trade offers is because respected journalists have openly said that Pacioretty isn't getting along with the Habs coach at all and that a change of scenery could do him very well. I would not trade Pacioretty low though (like many HFers think they can get), because he's on an amazing contract and he's still a threat to all teams & one of the best LWs in the league.

I personally don't think it would be the end of the world for the Wild to go to the next season with Suter-Spurgeon-Brodin left of the big five. Meaning Scandella and Dumba possibly gone.

Then it's just about which one of these two would the Wild be more ok to lose for nothing? Or to put it the other way, which one carries a higher trade value? That probably swings all over the place depending on who you're dealing with. So it might come down to which one stands a better chance of dodging the Vegas pick and then finding the best available deal for the other.

My guess at the moment is Dumba gets traded and Scandella left unprotected. I actually also think Vegas is picking Zucker in this scenario.

How would DET fans feel about Mantha + small add for Dumba?

I'm not saying Detroit would never considering trading Mantha. The Leafs wanted him in a deal for Phanuef and Buffalo wanted him in a deal for Myers. Both times Detroit said no. I don't see why they'd turn down those offers then go ahead and move him for someone like Dumba.

If you want Detroit to move a young winger playing on the first line who, at times, dominates with his size and reach, I suspect they'll want something better. That's not to say the value between these two players is far apart. Detroit certainly needs an upgrade at defense, but if they're going to move Mantha they'll want someone more proven and reliable on the backend.

Detroit has been very patient with Mantha. They invested a lot of development time and money into him that I don't see them giving him up easily.

Pick 2 of our dmen other than suter for nylander

That's interesting for sure.

I like Nylander too much to probably agree, but it would take something like this to do it

Rielly - Zaitsev
Brodin - Dumba
Gardiner - Carrick

would be fun. For both us and the opposition probably

We could do it with the expansion draft too, protect 5 D, JVR, Kadri, and Brown. Also solves Minnesota's expansion issues.

I'm shocked that as a Leafs fan you didn't take Scandella. Yeah, Brodin's a bit better, but doesn't fit our team needs as much. I get it, take the better guy. Dumba though is worse than Scandella and a horrible fit for the Leafs' needs. How many small to average, skating, scoring, weak at actual defensive play defensemen do we need? Rielly, Gardiner, Zaitsev, now Dumba. Winning in the NHL and winning in fantasy hockey are two different things.

This is interesting....i can't decide between Spurgeon/Scandella or Brodin/Scandella.

I doubt Nylander gets moved, but getting 2 quality D is tempting.

Everybody on the boards is always undervaluing Dumba and Brodin. It's like they don't watch Wild at all and just look at the points. Young Top-4 Defenseman are not easy to get. Young Defenseman>Young Wingers.

You'd be wise to pick Spurgeon/Scandella.

I don't know if that's a serious post or not. I will admit i don't see enough wild games to make a good evaluation. A bunch of Leafs fans would go with Dumba, i would prefer more established at this point.

It is serious.

Didn't you say between Spurgeon/Scandella vs Brodin/Scandella?

I did. Was considering Brodin because he is 4 years younger than Spugeon...but ya, Spurgeon is much better defensively. So ya, Spurgeon/Scandella.

Actually...Spurgeon/Brodin. Best of both worlds!
