That was a great variant! Really shows the impact of lack of patience or short term decision of trading picks for immediate help.

Before your post, didn't realize just how bad that the goaltending situation was for the Flames. Mentally knew that the Flames had ~10 years of elite level goaltending from Kipper that spoiled the organization, but didn't know just how bleak it was after that. Goaltending is more of a crapshoot than skaters from a draft/develop perspective, but that's really damning when you look at it over a 30 year timeframe.

I think it just highlights the importance of trades for allowing teams to ice a competitive roster. A few of the other rosters are kinda highlighting something similar... and then there are some rosters where you see the hard work that was squandered. Ouch.

bure and linden were drafted before 1990, miller, naslund, and bertuzzi were not drafted by the canucks.
