they can't sit in the minors forever and not all will make the Ducks because of lack of space on the team. this is called trading from a position of strength. the Ducks have an overabundance of good d-men in the system that they could turn into something they very much need (winger perhaps?) if you could get JVR from the Leafs for one of the kids or even Cam Fowler and make things cap compatable, then i would do it.

Ducks need to balance team for the present and future. Not trading Theodore or Larsson for 2 seasons of JVR. Even trading Montour for 2 seasons of JVR don't like to do. Fowler for JVR would be more willing but I don't really like JVR and he is coming off a injury season so...

Good Ducks defenseman to Oilers is a no unless you overpay a good amount.

Well i know that Yak+3rd wont get you Montour. No i agree that Stoner brings no value to the deal.
