The other part is it's not like Travis's hideous performance is affecting team results - YET. When it does that's when the leash gets shorter quicker.

He doesn’t make enough bad defensive plays to hurt team performance and we have other skill guys who score.

He is never getting banished. He will eventually get moved to a “lower” line even though we really don’t have lower lines right now , but they have zero reason to bench, much less buy him out which is an absurd suggestion.

They are paying Lovejoy to sit in the press box, why would anyone think they would buyout Zajac?

Rest of the group is fine for the most part. Mojo is finding his game after his long layoff. Palms will eventually find his, honestly so will Zajac. Not sure on what line he will find it, but he will turn it around enough.

I agree that Zajac shouldn't be thrown to the wolves but neither should he be on the 2nd line or seeing any pp or OT time.

I know Hynes is trying to get him going but I think it is a fool's errand at this point.

sami is also finding his feet. funny how this went from the refs stole this to we suck and lets bash travis. this team will come out flying tomorrow. time to show the caps who is boss.

At the end of the day management currently has been proven right all year.

This is a 50 point team near the halfway point with only 9 regulation loses. We can bitch and moan all we want, but you don’t go on a 110 point pace for half a season in spite of management. It doesn’t work that way.
 
Not too beat up by this, especially in the grand scheme of things. Pitt, isles, and cbj lost in regulation, only rags went to OT like us, and they lost too.

11/12 on a 6-game homestand is not bad by any stretch. The guys just need to use this as a wake-up call. Hopefully we got the bad puck luck out of us

palmieri has 12 points in 18 games, has been the teams top goal scorer for the past two seasons and had chemistry with hall last year and when they’ve played together this year. just because he’s coming back from missing a bunch of games and had had two poor games (with an anchor for a center) after two good games doesn’t mean he “has shown nothing to deserve a promotion to the first line”

And I think wanting Travis to get less icetime in less prime situations is a legitimate concern. As long as the team's still winning though what's the motivation for management to pull the plug? Outright benching/buying him out is just jumping the shark at this point in any case.
 
Nobody mad at Vatanen for taking a stupid penalty costing the tying goal? WHat about his cutesy playing with the puck and losing it, or holding it for 30 seconds and not passing or shooting when he had chances? I'm not impressed with his high risk, low reward plays let alone blowing the lead.

Someone needs to tell him to KISS off. Keep It Simple STUPID.

i get keeping bratt there now and won’t argue with that but it’s not because palms doesn’t deserve it

#2 annoyed me. #1 I thought was a bit of a weak penalty call (looked more like an old person shove than a cross check), which is pretty much par for the course.

Everyone piled on Palmieri last year when he was playing very well but not getting points. He would dominate games but was clearly snakebitten, and people were trashing him them. Calling him a one year wonder. He might be dinged up a little but I can hard call his play awful.

Now Zajac, yeah, he needs to go to Lovejoy Island for a little bit.

its almost a good thing we lost and lost like that. keep them grounded and keep them wanting more. hall had the win.... i doubt hes gonna beat himself up over that one. this team has the postseason in their sights.

You are right. There is legit discussion to be had about lowering Zajac’s usage, especially in scoring situations.

Problem is people are going 2000% too far and we can’t have a real discussion.

Zajac is 2nd on the team among forwards in TOI/GP at 17:25 since he's been back. Next is Johansson at 16:35, Hischier at 16:28, and Bratt at 16:25. He's 5th among forwards in EV TOI/GP at 13:44 in that same time. There is no excuse for why Zajac plays this much when he has been playing so poorly.
