Sharks. Celebrini > Bedard and they have a better overall group than Chicago as well. And less pressure to win, which is huge bc GMs tend to have shit job security

I would take Winnipeg. They’re playing well, they still have a couple of high-end prospects in the pipeline, and we know from history that their general manager is safe year after year after year.

- "rebuilding with superstar" applies just as much to SJ as CHI
- great owner
- low pressure vs other markets
- solid, small but passionate fan base just waiting to wake up from long slumber

After that in order: VAN, CHI, DET, WIN.

I wouldn't want to live in 4 of the 5 cities, so I guess San Jose wins by default.

They also have some decent youngsters in pretty much every position, and should be able to add another one this year. There's a lot of potential for long term success there, assuming they can add a high end young defenseman or two. Schaefer would be a big get in the draft, assuming he's the real thing.

I'd take the Canucks job because they're my favourite team obviously. But also, i think i'd probably be better as a guy putting the "finishing touches" on a team with those core building blocks already in place.


Detroit is also pretty attractive though, because you get to sit back and either reap the rewards of what StevieY has drafted if it starts to come good...or you probably get extra leash by being like, i didn't draft these guys. There's bad contracts on the books there, but i don't think it's anything you can't get out from under, or just wait out as they expire. Problem there though, is you're still really looking for a stud #1C and that's very hard to find. Especially without top draft picks. You're probably just trying to build a team with three 2Cs and hope it works. Which is kind of intriguing as a challenge.

Lots of young assets and the least high pressure media market.

Franchise star centre is the hardest piece to acquire.

San jose seems to have a few more pieces in place than CHI, but its close, and it can rapidly change.

San Jose for me, longest leash, great city and some nice pieces to start out with already.

Essentially have a piece at every position and multiple up front.

Shrewd free agent pick ups and trading for players in the middle six with term coupled with internal improvement.

The Sharks are my favorite Western Conference team, and the situation is such that there will be a few years of patience while I try to get things in good order. This is an easy call. Obvious moves include Granlund and Ceci out at the deadline, and if anyone is interested in Vlasic, that's great.

If that wasn't on the list, I'd probably go with Winnipeg, because I'm not averse to riding that wave in the hopes of stamping my name on the Cup. Flags fly forever, and all that.

Being a GM in a Canadian market would suck. San Jose can only go up from here, has tons of cap space and nice prospects. There will be very little scrutiny or pressure too, so I'd take them. Detroit 2nd, Chicago 3rd.

Yeah, proper glutton for punishment over here. I had family living in San Jose for most of the team's existence, and when I don't have another rooting interest, I root for teams where my family lives, under the theory that if people are happier there, so is my family. (doesn't hurt that their jerseys rock.)

Chicago.

1. Wouldn't have to move.
2. I don't root for the team, so if I do a bad job I at least don't ruin my favorite team.
3. Chances are I wouldn't be the worst GM in town regardless of how poorly I do.
4. Chicago is a great city.

If I go to Detroit, we're rebuilding, so I don't think I'm allowed.

San Jose/Chicago because of Celebrini/Bedard.

Vancouver is a good team and you're pretty much tweaking some things.


Winnipeg would be really hard because it's not a desirable destination AND Chevy has been doing a nice job there along with his scouting staff to find good pros they can get and finding good prospects.

I'd probably take Chicago/San Jose as you're pretty much building your own team as they're still early in their rebuild.

Sharks. Aside from the various hockey reasons that others have listed, I think it'd be nicer to live in a warm weather market and there's less pressure.
