Not a good game for the Komarov line.

Couldn't win a face-off or keep the puck out of their own net.

Yeah agreed, Komarov-Kadri looked bad today. I found Michalek was decent.

Komarov - Kadri - Michalek line had 4 shots for and 16 shots against, finished the night with 20% possession.

Leafs lost because their shutdown line didn't do anything well. They looked a step behind the whole game. I'm still rooting that Babcock changes that line up. Replace Komarov or Michalek with Marner, the kids amazing defensively from what I've seen.

Also would like to see Rielly stand out more, he needs to step up his game if he wants to be a #1D anytime soon.

Anyone know the record for most 3rd period leads blown in a single season? We can maybe start counting them lol.

Hunwick needs the walking papers, its not being inexperienced, its not being young...

Its about playing a fringe NHLer in key roles.

Only 5 games into the season, but it already feels like a full season's worth of collapses. Got to close these games out.

People need to stop excusing this as if blowing 4 leads in 5 games is a part of "growing pains."

Yeah being up 4-0 and losing the game is "part of the process."

No these are SERIOUS lapses in the team, ESPECIALLY when the leafs are averaging nearly 4 GPG.

None of what's taken place is excusable.

So what exactly would you consider growing pains? We have a yung team full of players who do not know how to play defense well enough yet. So when the opposing team really turns it on in the late stages when they are down we cant handle it. That is exactly what I would expect form a young rookie team.

I'm blaming Babcock a good coach would change their system a bit by now when it comes to closing out games

Babcock needs to stop playing Hunwick in key defensive situations. Rielly, Zaitsev, and Gardiner are ALL more suited to it then he is.

Hunwick is very overrated. Zaitsev is far better in one-on-one battles. He proved it against elites in the world cup and yet we're using this dinosaur.

Rielly, yes, isn't a strong defensively. That doesn't mean that we should be solely reverting to obsolete veterans.

What?

This entire board has wanted Hunwick's head on a pike since halfway through preseason.

Holland has been good on the shootout before. Come on guys. This is the worst thing about tonight to complain about. Get it together.

I can find plenty of great shootout goals over the last year or so from him. The issue was everything before the shootout.

So? I'm sure there are players on the Hawks side with better shootout numbers than Kane, Toews and Panarin.

You win or lose with your best players. Holland is barely an NHL player.

Where else is that rebound supposed to go? A goaltender can control rebounds to n extent but on that shot the only place for it to go was to the slot. Its no different then nylanders second goal, its intentionally done by players, pass off the pad. the problem is the hawks player who was allowed to walk through the slot untouched

For sure, I'm not blaming him on that one / those ones. It's when he stops it an "apparently" has control of it, but then drops it on the doorstep for a melee to ensue.

This is going to get pretty ugly.

Going to be just uncomfortable to watch these guys when they have their next third period lead. Once they start to believe it is inevitable that they will blow it....then things will be bad.

Putting holland first in the shootout was a joke. Shouldn't even be in the nhl. Terrible move by babs

The kids were great again. Jvr and bozak are killin marner. Poor kid

Andersen was better was still sucks. Not a fan yet

Should be 5 and 0 and we have 1 win. That's a legit ****ing disgrace

The positive in this all is the Leafs have had leads to even blow. Last year that didn't happen. Needed the lead first.

Eventually these leads will turn into consistent wins. It takes time. Expecting them to win the majority of their games right away isn't the best frame of mind.

Doesn't matter who the Leafs sent out for the shootout (all 3 made good attempts) when there's a gaping hole in the right upper corner of your goal.

I really hope Ander5en can rebound and start to give up 3 goals on a nightly basis. That would be fantastic.
