Dubas is equally, if not worse, at his job than Sully. At least Sully was effective a decade ago, Harry Potter cant even say that.
Yeah Sullivan Sucks, but Dubas needs to be talked about too...

By saddling the team with like 30 mill in dead cap per year in his first month on the job on vets that suck.
Also by specifically seeking out drafted prospects who will be ready quicker than picks when trading the most valuable asset he had up his sleeve in Guentzel. Oh, he also brought back another dead cap vet in that trade because that will help in 7-10 years.
Lastly by trading out top prospect for another prospect who’s main quality that is better than the guy he moved was supposedly being pro ready immediately. Spoiler: he was not pro ready.
Kyle has no plan and is just counting on rubes buying the hype he is smart for another decade while he steals paychecks and this organization circles the toilet.

Kyle Dubas is a brilliant, smart and savvy GM because the Pittsburgh Penguins hired Dubas for being a brilliant, smart and savvy GM. If Kyle Dubas wasn't a brilliant, smart and savvy GM then why would the Pittsburgh Penguins have hired him to be a brilliant, smart and savvy GM?

A top 5 pick, if drafted properly will be ready in 2-3 years at most, if all goes according to plan. 7-10 years though, we're already in the "pay through the nose" phase of competing, that's like JR-era Penguins.
A top 5 pick who's just finally establishing themselves as a talent in 10 years is kind of a waste of a top 5 pick. That's a MAF-top 5OA kinda pick.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all in on the tank, but I do strongly believe that just getting that top 5 pick isn't enough-- you need to get ready some supporting cast there and you shouldn't be going to UFA because, honestly, we haven't signed a good UFA cast since Shero.

It's incredible to think there was no foresight into hiring a POHO to oversee the franchise, and then saddle them with a coach that the owners do not want moved, therefore making the GM search impossible.
This team is so dysfunctional from ownership on down. Wilkes-Barre and Wheeling are the best run parts of this franchise right now, and that kills me because I am such an unreasonably for not real good reasons Spezza hater.

No players coming in will suit the POHO/GM/COACH as they seem to be fundamentally different... Dubas is trying to get players to fit Sullivan but the two are obviously so far apart in terms of philosophy, that this just will not work. AND the core is too old and won't retire or move on, which depending on who you talk to is ok or not ok, whatever.
DYSFUNCTIONAL
When the Head coach has as much power as the POHO/GM there can never be success. Chain of command must be followed to properly allow each link of that chain to do what its job is. When the Chain is a flat line, its a ROPE of Command, and that saying is absolutely stupid... doesn't work. You need to be able to replace a link in order to get things back in order, the rope will just create a noose and hang everyone.
Maybe the saying can work... I don't know, I'd still like to see Dubas work without Sullivan before I start roasting him.

Be careful what you wish for. I could 100% see this happening this summer: Kyle to full-time POHO. Sully to GM. Quinn to head coach.

I just can't be bothered to care about the 3rd GM here in 4 years. You can't tell me that anything would be different if Tulsky was hired instead. He'd be bringing in analytical darlings whose game would suddenly drop off a cliff and the narrative would be that Tulsky doesn't actually understand hockey.

If a GM really wanted to be innovative and cutting edge, they would put a passionate fan on their staff to consult with before any move. Examples:

lol. I'm sure Dubas' terrible contract and trade negotiations that are identical here as they were in Toronto will suddenly change when Sullivan (Who he can fire.) is fired...

IMO Dubas improved the team on paper this year but he’s stuck with Sullivan so his hands are tied there.
Our bottom 6 is better and our PP has been like, okay overall. But we can’t defend or do anything good in the neutral zone and there are no adjustments to speak of.

On the real kyper and Bourne show/podcast it was said sullivan had significant say in the hiring of dubas.
