Just saw the clip of Val sitting on the bench, he looked very unhappy.

I'm OK with it. Sucks for Val, but hopefully it'll be a kick in the ass for an even better end to the NHL season.

A loss tomorrow to Finland, and Val is back in Dallas sooner for the mini-camp. Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. He opened a ton of eyes with his early work so he has nothing to be ashamed about.

Any chance you have a link to that?

Nada. Was just watching the replay of the game. It was in the third period, commentators talking about how he had only 3 minutes of ice time. Camera showed him on the bench staring off, like he checked out.

It was really weird, no idea why they benched him, out of all the fourth liners he looked the most explosive, weird the promoted one of his line mates to the Malkin Ovechkin line, and extremely weird to seem him benched. If he had made some major gaffe or something I would understand, but it just seemed like he was benched for no particular reason.

It's the Russian head coach Bilyaletdinov (and most big buffs) who generally don't play younger guys at all. It was close to miracle that he got picked to the Olympic Team! You don't see young Russian guys even at WC -level.

So I'm not all that surprised he hasn't gotten a whole lot of playing time.

So, Nuke vs. Kari tomorrow, who do we want to advance?

I'd rather see the home team continue their run, especially considering Kari's likely on the bench again.

Still, though, I can't say I'd be too upset if he advances. :D

Kari really needs a game like tomorrow's, but we all know that's unlikely. I guess him and getting back sooner rather than Nuke would be more important. Nuke could be huge in deciding whether or not Dallas makes the playoffs, but no one will have a bigger impact than Kari.

If he's benched .... I hope Russia rolls and Kari gets back in Dallas ASAP to get over the jet lag and time difference. If he's in net, win win win ... he needs to play true high stress games like that. Hell ... that's why it would be big for him to get any playoff games this year. Sure Dallas isn't a contender, but only Seguin of the core players, has any playoff experience.

That Russian team is a joke.

Radulov is absolutely awful, yet he stays on Datsyuk's line and gets top PP minutes.

Val has been great, the best player on his line and he gets benched. Then his linemate gets promoted to the 1st line.

What? Other than the game where he took 2 stupid penalties, him and Datsyuk have been Russia's best forwards throughout the tournament. He's the only player who showed any heart in yesterdays game.

Yeah, I thought Radulov has been pretty good aside from that one game with the dumb penalties. He flies out there and creates a ton of chances.
