I gave up watching women's hockey a while ago. It's like watching an inner city high school basketball team take on a Highland Park middle school team.

Unfortunately woman's hockey isn't going to get any better if they stop having these big international competitions, so what can you do?

Maybe they could play 3 on 3 or something so instead of having to field a competitive team of 20 they would just need 10 or 12 top players. Might make it easier for the European teams to compete while also putting the emphasis away from the physical / positional game that Canada and the US can use to beat everyone else up.

Sometimes ankles are fine to go right away, but then swelling increases the next couple of days. I doubt it's anything serious.

Weird, the story I read said he didnt go back out after he was hurt. But then again, the story also called him Ilya Nichushkin, so maybe its just a bad source. :help:

Yeah, actually Russia was practising without Kovalchuk yesterday. Hence the Ilya missing.

These Canadian announcers have been bashing the Russian coaches and sometimes players the entire game. What they are saying might be true, but it's overkill at this point.

Val had only 3 minutes of ice time that game, seems like his Olympics is basically over at this point except for being a spectator from the bench.

Can't say I hate the idea of him giving that ankle some time to heal.

Was listening on the way in to work and Hughson (I think) suggested swapping Popov with Nichushkin, as Popov couldn't generate much with Ovechkin/Malkin.
