Getting LWO over has been a plan since Mania and it doesn't seem he wants to deviate from it same as how Priest most likely was pegged as MitB winner and the JD story were planned at least by Backlash.

LA Knight winning the US Title on Smackdown (as the match is apparently not going to make the summerslam card) would make people even angrier.

The streets say his push is planned for after Summerslam, but like that needs to be true or you are really risking cooling him off as wasting his heat.
