Again, it makes no sense to trade down if you want to draft Slafkovsky knowing that NJ wants Slafkovsky.

I mean why would you trade down if you want Slafkovsky? Just draft Slafkovsky and get it done.

They probably don't want Slafkovsky or have it so even that they want to get paid to not make the choice.

Can you trade your newly pick guy for a pick in the same draft?
(ie: We pick Slav at 1st ov then trade him to NJ for 2nd ov pick)

Grant's a f***ing idiot. Always has been, always will be. His claim to fame was being buddies with Timmins. Now that Timmins is unemployed, Grant is f***ed and knows it. He has the absolute worst scouting record I've ever seen and is pretty much wrong in everything he says. He always pumps up the underdog pick and shits on the consensus because he tries to be the smartest guy in the room, but instead makes himself a laughing stock within the scouting community.

Quit reading into his garbage. He doesn't know who the Habs are picking. He doesn't know who the BPA is. He probably doesn't even know how to tie his own f***ing shoes.

Stop giving this hack attention.

Wright is the best fit. IQ, 200 ft game, shot, skating passing. No competent GM would pass on this type of core player. The rest is noise.
Rob makes too much Sense.
if he can be a 30 30 guy I would compare him more to Brady Tkachuk than Puljujarvi. But what many thought Puljujarvi would be is a fair vision of Slaf.
Puljajarvi and Kakko would be better comps make more sense as Slafkovsky isn’t physical and doesn’t bang and get his nose dirty like Tkachuk does.

The whole point of trading down is to get an extra and still draft your guy. So if the Habs trade down they have no problem with either but most likely want Wright.

I get the logic, I just don't see how NJ bites on that when it's clearly a hoax...
Absolute hoax scenarios, I don’t understand how people can entertain this and hit the like button, seems like the same cronies liking this idea.

Bob Mackenzie is turning into a hack too apparently. Probably just because he’s a Leafs fan and doesn’t want his fairy tale team to fail against us for the next decade. Leafs are done the second we draft Wright.

Nobody is biting on this Slafkovsky #1 nonsense, especially not the casinos who have Wright as a heavy favourite.

So what are Bob Mackenzie the Leafs fan’s real motives here?

NJ would prefer Slaf over Wright, yes?

NJ wants to compete quick, yes?

A 3rd round pick (ish) won’t change much when you aren’t looking for prospects and want to compete, yes?

Habs could pick Slaf #1, yes?

So it’s fairly simple. They might not believe the Habs but if they don’t want to take the chance, it will only cost a 3rd round (ish) to get your guy. I’d say it could be worth it but it all depends on how much you want him.

Habs just opened the door. They did a good job doing it. NJ can take it or not.

If they do take the door and draft Slaf #1, the price is minor and won’t change much of anything. On the other side just the fact that Hughes opened the door to NJ is a great sign for things to come.

May I ask why you care? Why does anyone care what Grant McCagg says? Why post his tweets?

Every talking head / media type, the Habs and league know, the NHL will never receive as much coverage for anther draft as they will for the next week & everyone’s trying to milk their couple of minutes of fame…

And what if Fitz manages to get #1 and drafts Wright?

I mean why would HuGo even entertain this sort of game? We have 14 freacking picks in this draft.

It's his first draft as a GM, the draft is in Montreal, they'll just pick the guy they think is Wright and that's it.

The Bell center will explode because we picked the Wright guy and everybody will be happy apart McHack.

It’s possible… but I see it as improbable.

Anyway,

Hughes already said he was ready to listen to NJ if they wanted to get #1. So not sure why you would say that.

Don't know who the first list is, but that 9-12 range is exactly where I'd want them to move up.

If we could get Wright and one of either Nazar, Lekkerimaki, Korchinsky or Mintyukov, I'd be in heaven.

What would NJ offer to get this pick?

From Habs perspective, there's only one way to make sense out of it and that's for New Jersey to take a contract off our hands. They have a lot of cap space and we don't.

There's absolutely nothing else of interest NJ can give the Habs that make sense for them and for us.
