Not sure what to think from the Canucks perspective. In the end I guess it's a push of draft picks and the cap space is handy, but Schmidt is worth more than a 3rd.

Vancouver basically chose OEL 6x7.2m over Schmidt 4x5.9m and downgraded from a 2nd to a 3rd to do it.

Yes but in two different offseasons he has only been worth a 3rd round pick.
Including the offseason after his Vegas stint.

GMs often make poor decisions. If we're basing a player's play off their trade value, Gostisbehere isn't a NHL caliber defenseman - which is obviously untrue.

Surprised we didn't get more to be honest, but I guess that's the contract.

He struck me as the sort of guy whose head and heart were still in Vegas all year. You saw it this week even with him representing the Knights at the baseball game.

It's unfortunate. He's a good defenseman, it didn't work out. He doesn't seem happy in Vancouver. We didn't lose anything and we now have cap space. Pity we couldn't upgrade that 3rd to a 2nd, but it is what it is.
