Schmidt is a jerk. Could've made off with 2 2nds. Waits until they grab Dillion and then he agrees to waive? Good riddance.
Things change day-to-day! Just like the way Benning operates this hockey club! Plus he was running out of time...

Maybe seeing the doors improve he changed his mind? Winnipeg wants to win. He wants to win , win/win

Nice that the Jets have improved the D but I think this means Copp is 100% on the way out

Dillon for 2 seconds and Schmidt for a third. This is backwards. I know he had a tough year last year but he had 3 really good years before that. Great player I think thrives in the peg.

Winnipeg’s top 4 is looking nice now

The entire day core is really solid.

Morrissey-Schmidt
Dillon-Demelo ( had to do it)

No he's not, lol. I hate this grug narrative when it comes to Schmidt. He was our best d-man last season. He is not overpaid.

Schmidt is fine but he’s redundant in Vancouver. He will never, ever play PP1 minutes here. We simply do not need more offensive minded left shot defenceman. We still have 3 of them after trading Schmidt. We need defenceman who can defend, kill penalties, and play hard minutes. Schmidt is good but that’s not his game.

If the Jets had made these moves a year ago they would have won the conference. Now they need to battle through a tough division. Better late than never I guess.

Here's how I'm blindly choosing to look at this and you can't change my mind. Last year Vegas traded him to Winnipeg, and this past season was some sort of twisted fever dream. The Canucks now have the same cap space they would have then, and the picks they would have then.

In addition you can add another straw to the camels back that is Benning's firing

Good move for both teams. He struggled in Vancouver but it may have just not been a fit. For a 3rd round pick I'm fairly certain Winnipeg is getting what Vancouver thought they were getting last year.

Yeah, I thought we could maybe pry a little more in a trade, but the Canucks - like Vegas before them - want the cap space. Now they've got it.

Pettersson and Hughes extensions should be coming fairly shortly.

As a Canuck fan im very relieved we got out of 6 mil for for 4 more years.

We have enough transition offence players, the fit just wasnt there.

We need stay at Home defenders.

Vancouver can’t coach defense.

they should be glad to get rid of the contract

future considerations would have been a win

That's a good trade, Canucks can lose a puck mover and Jets badly need one.

Jets should be a bit more entertaining with this move.
