Slightly disappointed in the return. But the key here is that we didn't have to take back any salary and there was zero retention.

Schmidt has 4 years left at 5.9 million. If you feel that last year was the beginning of regression, you're loathe to take that sort of number on.

I like Schmidt and if we had cap space and he had wanted to stay, I would have loved to keep him.

In a world where Risto got a 1st plus, I had hope we would get at least a 2nd. But the cap space is useful. Curious to see what RD Benning acquires.

Lol at all the Canuck fans who’ve been insisting Vancouver got an insane deal on him last season because of circumstances and that his value was much much higher.

The return is a little underwhelming, but the real return is cap space.

WPG being able to take on the entire contract with no retention or bodies back is more valuable by itself than a lot of trade offers out there.
