I like this deal. Getting the 1st is key. Lemieux you can plug into a bottom six role and you know you at least he is going to play hard. Quinn will like that.

This is a deal I wanted for Nash as a rental this year. I still think Montreal doing the Armia trade instead of the Rangers was a miss, because the Rangers really need more NHL level wing depth.
McQuaid is probably not going to give that guy, but if the Rangers wanted to spin a pick to Torts to roll the dice on Milano, I wouldn't hate that

Just Gorton doing Bettman's job, Ranger fans are now at least a 4th round pick more interested in the finals should the Jets make it. 1st more interested if Tampa makes it, 1st more interested if Dallas even makes the playoffs and wins a round.

I can't say that this deal is a great deal, nor that it is not. But I can definitely say that its a deal I am excited about. We needed to start to add guys like Lemieux. He is the right age, has the right mindset, and is definitely not without talent. How good can he become, that is the question?

Hayes plays a more important position and is significantly younger than Zucc. Deadline or not, that factors in.

I consider him more of a “young roster player” than a prospect.

The latter. He has skills. His upside is a guy like Avery (minus the craziness) who could both play effectively and drive the opponent crazy.

lemieux has 11 points but averages a little over 7 minutes on the ice a night. With the way our roster looks he should get at least 10-12 for the rest of the season. Maybe there's something more there. As someone else mentioned, he was nearly a PPG player in the "A".

Exactly. Some guys play that way because they are told its the only way they will stay in "The Show", some guys just like to stir the isht pot. Brendan seems to be willing to back it up too, unlike his Elder Turtle.
