I mean is he going to be some scrub who provides toffnuss or is he going to be a legit player who provides toughness?

His ceiling is like someone said earlier, a guy who can put up a few points while being a clean agitator. He and Strome could make a pretty darn good middle-6 pair in the least.

I thought we could've gotten maybe one more player/prospect vs. a conditional fourth. Meh.

Hayes will fit nicely there. Big body who protects the puck and now will play with other big bodies who also drive play. My god, their forecheck will be bad-ass.

It's like a game of roulette and we are just putting some random chips on some random numbers as a hedge to try and hit it. I like it. It's fun.

I get it, but it just seems random. I mean our 2nd turns into a 1st if Dallas wins two rounds. Here we straight up get a 4th only if they win it all. Why not a 3rd or a 2nd? I mean it's nothing if they don't win it all so what's the real risk to WPG?

Happy with the return.

GL Haysey, hopefully he continues to improve for WPG on the other side of the world there!

It might actually be a lot better for us if Winnipeg gets knocked out in the first couple rounds. I know we won't have that 4th round pick then but we will have a higher 1st rounder. Just saying.

Agreed. Even better if they lost out the rest of the way and didn't make the playoffs. lol

I like this trade. Kevin Hayes is going to want big money. Two deals where UFA signings turned into good returns. Add in the Gomez for McDonagh and that return and this team does a decent job turning nothing into something.

The only things that really concern me about Lemieux are his inflated SH% and his PEND.

But I feel like some tough love from DQ can help his PEND, which in turn will lead to increased playing time and should balance out his SH% and his actual production. He wasn't playing all that much with WPG. Should be able to play more with NYR.

But otherwise, this is a fair value trade for a 2C rental. Rangers got a 1st (most important piece), an NHL player, and potentially a 4th. Heck, even if it was just a 1st+Lemieux it would have been good.

What is PEND??

Maybe he asked for a conditional second, got rebuffed, and settled. Would you prefer him to get nothing instead?

FWIW, I wonder what kind of adjustment it will be for Hayes off-ice there. I know I'm basing this on the stereotypical notion that Wpg is a dump, but he *is* transitioning from one of the most glam cities in the world. Is he going to want to sign elsewhere after the season?

I always had hayes going west I still feel from what I've heard that the Rangers want to try and bring him back this summer if possible. sending him west to a team they don't believe he'd be interested in staying with furthers that belief along.

but who knows I hear we're going to be very in on Panarin and there are still rumors about EK. hayes money isn't there if those two come aboard.
