Woof. Rough deadline. Should’ve resigned Hayes. Can’t believe we didn’t get a better prospect from Winnipeg. Thought we’d be able to pull something like Appleton or Niku in a Hayes deal. Very disappointed.

Fingers crossed on one of those Zucc conditions.

Tom Wilson-lite in your opinion?

Tom Wilson is SO unique with his skating ability I am fearful of using him. Ferland is someone who he reminds me of slightly. He has more skill than Roussel or I would use that.

At 21 he had pretty close to a ppg in the AHL. That's very good production.

The only things that really concern me about Lemieux are his inflated SH% and his PEND (penalty differential)

But I feel like some tough love from DQ can help his PEND, which in turn will lead to increased playing time and should balance out his SH% and his actual production. He wasn't playing all that much with WPG. Should be able to play more with NYR.

But otherwise, this is a fair value trade for a 2C rental. Rangers got a 1st (most important piece), an NHL player, and potentially a 4th. Heck, even if it was just a 1st+Lemieux it would have been good.

After the Zucc trade, which is rate a C (Turns into an A if one of the cond picks are meant, but unlikely), I'm rating this one a B+. Very happy with the return.

I want to spend my the next 45 minutes sifting through all the dumb ass quotes on the main board saying Hayes won't return a 1st +.

Too bad I'm at work.. ****....

Entertaining start to the day. Hopefully Gorton has another move or two up his sleeve.

6-1, 210 lbs and only 22 years old. He's two years younger than Wilson. He can certainly develop that way, with potential for more. He's also thicker than Wilson is. His 210 lbs plays a long way. He has also not yet grown into an adult body. Give him time to develop and you could get that constant belligerent presence in the middle 6.

I think this is a pretty solid return for Hayes in what has been a tough market too get a read on.

Was tweeting back and forth with Roger Dickland last night. He thought Hayes was headed to WPG for a player and a pick. Got it right. I was certain the Rangers wanted Lowry, but WPG likely didnt want to part with that.

Also think the Jets are a really good fit for Kevin Hayes. There's alot to work with there. Deep at Center now. Sheifele, Hayes, Little, Lowry. Im guessing he will slide in 2nd line, and bump Little to the third or maybe even to the wing. Wouldn't be at all surprised if Hayes ends up seeing icetime with Laine. Hayes as everyone knows likes to hold onto the puck to make plays. He's never had a linemat that can shoot the puck like Laine.

Some thoughts on Lemieux...

Watched him a few times this year. Agitator for sure. Very engauged in the play, but i do think he lacks skill to ever make it into a top 6. Every scout compared him to his father. I think he's more of a Lias Andersson type.

Is he a RW or a LW? If he becomes a productive 3rd liner, this is a very good return.
