Would we have made the playoffs without a coaching change?

Think I have a better chance at the Powerball

They had to go on a 118 point pace to get in in game 80. Let's be real here.

2 words: HELL NO!!!

Do we even need to ask the question at this point?

Cassidy has proven himself. He brought about a culture change, an attitude change, and most importantly brought back Winning results.

This team is refreshing for once. When they step on the ice they have confidence they are being put in position to win.

Even the staunchest Clode apologist should just admit - Clode lost the locker room. Cassidy brought it back. We are in the playoffs for the first time in almost 3 years. Proof is in the pudding.

I don't know how far we'll go but we should give Cassidy the chance to be the full time coach next year. He has earned it. And if he continues to progress the team and make it into the playoffs a second time it will be time the front office reward him with a long term extension.

This team was playing far too poorly considering the pieces we had. Now that we've turned it around, we can see that we had the "talent" to win all along. Of course we can't rest on our laurels, there's improvements need to be made still.

But at least for the first time, we have playoff hockey in Boston again. And we can dream for a brighter future rather than fear we're going to have to ship out another gifted offensive player because they don't fit what Clode wants in a 2-way player for his system. Cassidy just finds a way to make it work.

All I know is that this team is more fun to watch since the coach change.

One of the commentators on Sportsnet last night said that the Bruins with Claude as coach were so boring, but under Cassidy the Bruins are a fun team to watch again.

That pretty well summed up my view of the Bruins under these two different coaches.

Claude's boring system is more suited for the boring habs lineup.

Not a chance. Cam should have went the full Samuelsson in the room and got rid of him earlier.

Feels kinda like when an old dude trades in his minivan for crotch rocket.

I love Claude though. We all have an ex we will love always no matter what and he's mine.

Btw can we post a "do you think the leafs will choke and miss the playoffs" poll on the main board?

Has there ever been a poll on this board with so much agreement among the voters?

I can't think of one.

He's one of my favorite humans/coaches in Bruins history, but I don't think so. Although I was skeptical of the decision to fire him and promote Cassidy, the move worked.

He's still one of the best coaches in the league. Sometimes you just need a change.

7 votes against and 4 are regulars on the Montreal board and 1 is a soccer guy no idea what hockey team he follows

This result looks like the North Korean voting results

For all the stick Neely takes around here, it appears his desire to have Julien removed was the correct one.

So now that Cassidy has led the B's to the play-offs are you happy with him returning or would you rather they hire a diiferent coach??

Under Julien, the Bruins were a good team this season. They were just the unluckiest team in the league and had the worst PDO as of his firing. You would expect that to rebound over the remainder of the season regardless of whether he remained as coach or regardless of whether you brought in someone new. And rebound it did.

Basically, I don't think Cassidy is the reason the Bruins had a better second part of the season, and I'd definitely explore my options. Let's not make the same mistake the Leafs made with Randy Carlyle or the Avs with Patrick Roy.

It's possible only because Bergeron, who was injured, started to turn his play around. That was equally as important.

And Dobie too.

He doesn't start 0-5 and maybe the bruins are fighting for first right now.

I voted no.

and as it's been said I do love me some Claude.

But I believe the room just stopped listening to him. It happens.

What kind of weirdos got to another team's board and vote in their local polls? I would get it if this was on the main boards, but a specific team's board? That's borderline sociopath type behavior...:naughty:

Nothing against Julien, but we no longer had the players to fit his system....great coach, but not for this team anymore. Still greatest B's coach in my lifetime.

Yep. That's what it came down to. Great guy, phenomenal coach, but not right for this team anymore.
