I get that, but there is still 0 potential benefit for the Jays in naming the starter now.

There's zero drawback, too. Knowing now provides Cleveland no advantage that they wouldn't have had had the Jays waited until Thursday.

That Puig check swing by the home plate umpire was laughable. How hard is it for these clowns to ask the base ump?

I could be wrong, but I don't think the Jays HAD to name a starter for Friday's game, 3 days in advance. So why did they do this, why not keep that information internally until need be? It may very well not make a difference in the end, but I just don't see the benefit in revealing the starter days before. Under normal circumstances, it doesn't matter much because you can usually guess. But going into the ALCS with 4 days rest it could technically be 4 different guys. Why not keep em guessing?

It's not as if Cleveland can easily change up their roster to counterpick now that they know who's pitching. Also, judging by how most people here expected Estrada to be pitching Gm1, I doubt it was much of a surprise for CLE's managers and coaches.

Anyone who follows the NL know between the Dodgers or Nationals, which one matches up better against the Cubs? I know I'm looking way far ahead but if we could avoid Chicago in the WS that would be great

Yeah. It's not like they didn't expect to face Estrada at some point in this series . Knowing he's going first in comparison to going second or third doesn't change much for them.

Just looking forward to getting that series started.

Don't count out the Giants yet.

A win tonight and ALL the pressure is on the Cubs.

Well, see, that would require the ump to admit that they a) aren't fully on top of things, and b) might be wrong.

We can't have that.

The cursed Cubs against the Giants in an even year, with the Cubbies up in the series and a chance to move on?

Yep.. Nothing crazy could happen there

A game 1 win would be huge. I heard a stat that says Terry Francona does not lose series where his team wins game 1.

Ok so we got to steal game one right off the bat. This is not the Cavaliers so the Indians are definitely beatable. Very pumped for this one. Hopefully we get a lot of Toronto fans in their stadium.

Go Jays Go!!!!
