4 years remaining at $3.6M AAV
49 GP, 9G, 14A, 23P this season
Good third liner, penalty killing, leadership, locker room guy, Cup experience, intangibles etc etc.

Rangers desperately need the cap space in the offseason and getting rid of him might be the only way.

Dep what Rangers add as a sweetner.
Not that he's a bad player, but only teams with cap space will want to keep their picks.

Barabanov for Goodrow and Cuylle

Nothing would happen this year. Goodrow is a big part of the team. This is a next year move if they are forced to get under the cap

Plus Cuylee is a cheap bottom 6 option. He’s likely full time next year

But I’d rent Barbashev and Acciari for Kravtsov and a 3rd

I think this is a bad thread.

Goodrow is a very good 3rd liner and extremely reliable. For someone with his skillset to be playing at a near 40 point pace is pretty invaluable.

He is a vital part of the team. Its not his fault GG puts him in unpopular situations but he works his ass off.

Should not be traded.

Jackets are short on veterans who play the game the right way. All they have is mercurial talents and kids. So I don't see why they wouldn't take Goodrow's contract in the summer.

I don't think they want to trade him. It's more about the cap crunch this summer with three RFAs, two of whom have been having excellent seasons.

As for the thread, Goodrow is maybe slightly overpaid for what he brings. He's not in the "need to add a sweetener to move" category.

That said, it would basically come down to how much cap space the Rangers will need this summer. If they need his full hit, then they can likely move his full contract with no cap coming back at the price of (effectively) nothing. Mid round pick kind of level. If they have the wiggle room to retain a bit? They could get decent value in return (a 2nd or a 3rd rounder + a B prospect).

Cap Is going up, so they will have what 16-17 million to work with? They need to re-sign Miller, Chytil, and Lafreniere. Also need a back up goalie or re-sign Halak. I think Kravtsov is moved at the TDL or the summer. Should be able to get it done without having to move Goodrow.

He's on a two year 2.5 Mil contract. The OP was talking about the need to clear cap.
Goodrow is a Sharks legend. Free drinks
Regaining a legend is its own reward.

Honestly he does strike me as a Grier type at this point but the Sharks need to get worse, not better.

Haha I just want him not for his type but because he has a big contract that can possible facilitate a Meier move that may include a Kakko, Chytil, Lafreniere, or a 1st rd pick.
