What was the wors Team Canada in the history of WJCH? Or worst Sweden team?

For Slovakia, i would say, team from 2007/2008.

Except goalie Julo Hudacek, there isnt a player, that made a big career.
Some of them had (have) ok careers, but nothing special.

I don't know which year it was, perhaps 2010, when the Czechs lost to Sweden 1:10. That team was terrible. But it's hard to pick the worst Czech team between say 2008-2011. Some players made a successful careers later, like Ondřej Palát, Radko Gudas, Jakub Jeřábek and a few others, but the team as a whole was always terrible in these years. It started to change to better a little bit since 2012 (generation of Hertl, Jaškin, Mrázek ...), but really good bunch of individuals was that of 2015 (with Pastrňák, Vrána, Ondřej Kaše ...) and 2016 (Pastrňák, Vrána, Zacha ...). Unfortunately, they never worked well as a team, which was very much caused by terrible coaching (the coach Přerost was extraordinarily bad in communication with players, now he is just an assistant coach, and seems to be decent in this role). The Czech team playing now in Buffalo looks like the best since perhaps some 2006, I believe. Some very skilled individuals, and Pešán manages the coaching well thus far.

2008 Finnish team is easily the worst Finnish team.

Yeah players from that team haven´t made spectacular career´s. If using NHL games played (which ofcourse is not the best way to go) surprisingly the 1987 gold team has the secon least games played. Only Janne Ojanen went top play 98 games.

One of the most disapointing career result has to be 1990. Petro Koivunen and Petri Aaltonen were discussed in the same sentence with Selänne when they were juniors. Both were relatively high picks for Europeans at the time. Neither really made a special career. Säilynoja was also big talent at one point.

There were high hopes on V-P Kautonen. Would have fitted to NA game in many people´s opinion. Some like Pullola and Välilä had career season at the age of ~20 but then faded away. Viitakoski was suppose to be NHL quality power forward (he did make good career in Europe though).

Henry Eskelinen was best goalie of U18 European championships and had a good tournament in there. But was out of the league at age 21.

Now sure there were Janne Laukkanen. And Mika Alatalo and Strömberg did good Euro careers. But lot more was expected.

1998 for Canada. The 1992 team was probably the most disappointing, as we had Lindros, Niedermayer, an 18-year old Paul Kariya, and other solid players like Lapointe, Sydor, and Matvichuk. Our roster in 1998 was just simply abysmal and we lost to Kazakhstan.

For Canada it's 1998 hands down.

Outplayed by Finland, dominated by Sweden, losing in the QF to Russia with 39 seconds left in OT, and then mailing it in for the consolation round (which thankfully no longer exists) vs USA and Kazakhstan.

On paper? I thought it was about the worst team. The 2017 team was fine on paper.

I don't really follow you now. Are you saying the 2017 team was the worst team on paper or not? Because I think it wasn't. The end result was historically bad but with better management they should've been better than teams like 2008 and 2009.

98 Canada was brutal. The only stars that came out of that were Tanguay, Lecavalier, and Luongo. You had some okay guys like Sarich, Cooke, Brewer, Jason Ward, JP Dumont, Malhotra... but that's it.

For Finland:

Based on play on the ice:

2013 team. Our 2017 team was equally bad result-wise but I'd wager they'd beat the crap out of that terribly coached mess of a hockey team we had in 2013.

On paper:

Pretty much any lineup from 2006 to 2013 is a good candidate. Pick your poison.

I'm saying the 2017 team played like garbage.

I was not at any point talking about paper teams, that does not matter. The games aren't played on paper.

How about 2009? Lost to Slovakia in a shootout in the last group game and had to play in relegation group. Though they would have advanced to QF under the new rules.

But my idea was exactly this - Weakest teams on paper.

Is this the only one loss for Canada versus team outside Top Six?
Only one I can think of. There is still a lot of disparity in the hockey world and the further back you go, the worse that disparity got. Plus, there used to be only 8 teams in the tournament, which leaves fewer opportunities for seismic upsets.

2012 USA no question and that’s really crazy because look at the roster

John Gibson
Jacob Trouba
Charlie Coyle
Jt miller
Jason Zucker
Nick Bjugstad
Austin Watson
Emerson Etem
Brandon saad
Jon Merril

I think every single player on the team at least got an NHL game.

I think we have to put a qualifier on this. This is clearly the worst US team in the last few years, but not tournament history. Lots of 1 and 2 win teams back in the old 7 game round robin of the 80's and early 90's. This lineup would likely have destroyed some of those earlier teams, and that includes some of the ones that had decent records. USA Hockey has come so far in the last 20 years. You guys should be proud.
