Ones that instantly come to mind are;

- Wanting to trade Laf for the Habs (panthers) 1st. Didn't think he'd work out in NY but could elsewhere.
- Was too high on Drysdale. Thought Sens should've taken him over Sanderson

Ovechkin is cooked and everything he making is negative impact and he is victiming his team for his record he will reach in 3-4 years. Or something like that.

Never made this kind of take. Just really fun to focus on it, how bad and ridiculous haters were. As always. Every hater should be shamed.

Well you kind of missed the point of the entire thread.

Making fun of other people's takes is pretty much what every other thread on HF is about.

Sorry.

My bad take... I called Perevalov is top 15 prospect in his draft. Injuries spoiled him but it was very bad from the beginning.
I called Wright as 4th best prospect of his draft. I was too calm in my rankings, should put him lower.

Good job on whiffing on the thread. So at your request, I'm shaming you.

Thats is a good one. Still the best one is this:

Darnell Nurse at 9.25m is average money for a #1 defenseman. Three years from now Oilers fans will have nothing to worry about...

that was 3 years ago and now Oilers fans are really worried about his cap and lack of caps space to fix that D.
Oilers fans are mildly worried, because we do need a 2nd pair RD. We will have the cap space to fix that issue at the deadline, at least in the short term. Nurse's cap hit is still an issue, but it is also still true that the longer it goes, the less impact it has, unless he completely falls off a cliff in terms of his play. He's a 2nd pair guy being paid like a #1, so of course that sucks, but I also believe that many people still underestimate him. It's a 2 - 3M shortfall, which sucks, but it isn't as worrisome as having only one minor leaguer who could step in next year to replace the two top six wingers we are likely going to lose next summer (Skinner and Kane).

Anywho, so my bad thinking it was all on Buffalo, and that Risto would do better elsewhere. Didn’t love Philly as a landing spot, but damn dude fits a mess wonderfully.
I too expected that he'd be better outside of Buffalo and welcomed the trade at the time. In the summer of 2021, it was clear the Flyers were done with Gostisbehere and I thought Risto would add some much needed toughness to the team. I also didn't mind what they gave up (still don't - 2021 was a lousy draft). But Risto is still a mess and contributes little toughness and almost zero offensively. StarterHart, wherever you are, you were right. My bad.

After watching Thomas Chabot at the Wold Juniors, I was 100% sure he was going to win a Norris and a cup in Ottawa. Then that video of him insulting coaches went viral and it's been going downhill ever since.

I think he is a 3rd pairing on a cup contender not a 2nd pairing. Maybe a 2nd pairing on a bad team. His cap hit is very bad since even Hronek signing this summer still ended up getting much less than Nurse who signed in 2021 and Hronek is a much better dman. I compare Nurse to Zadorov but Zadorov is still better due to his heavy hitting and he got 5 mil which some people here said it was an overpayment.

I disagree completely. I think if he's on a 3rd pair, you have an all star team top 4 going on. Hronek isn't better, sorry. Zadorov is absolutely not better- he hits more heavily, but he makes Nurse look smart. Your Vancouver homerism is coming out.

Probably pushed Bennett and Valimaki as prospects harder than any other prospects Calgary has had. Definitely didn't work out in Calgary.

I hope I'm not right about Valimaki now haha

I thought the Leafs would beat the Habs in 6 games during the 2021 playoffs. I should have know the Leafs would leaf.

Not on this site but I used to defend Bergevin for sitting on 10M cap space two years in a row because he needed that money for Domi, Mete and Kotkaniami.

Goodness gracious. I also thought Mete was going to be the next Markov for the Habs.

I thought Kaapo Kakko was going to be a superstar in the NHL. Was devastated the Avs didn't get the 1st or 2nd pick in that draft.

Turns out the 2019 draft kinda sucked.

Thinking Martin Skoula was going to be a star defenseman after his 2001 playoffs. We joke about Skoula’s puck poise but he really did look like a stud in the making next to Raymond as part of the Avs next wave core (Hejduk, Drury, Tanguay).

I definitely have a lot of posts saying Ristolainen is super valuable and a franchise defenseman. Those takes look pretty laughable now.

I also have a lot of posts comparing Eichel to Matthews and to a lesser extent McDavid. Less ridiculous in hindsight than the Risto takes, but still wrong.
