I was going to rant but realised that the OP was from 2017 lol

Weird bumpYou we're right on the money.
As far as worst situation in 2024, Nashville maybe.
That was Florida (flukey SCF Appearance.. got swept, aside) until it wasn't.CBJ seems to be a generational bottom team. No one seems to criticize them for some reason. Some fans on this site gloat about a play-in series win vs. Toronto (ok you beat us and we shouldn't have even qualified for the playoffs).
They only have 6 playoff appearances in the history of their franchise.
Very prophetic post. Habs and Wings are still struggling to get good with not the best looking futures.
Weird bump
Sabres have been struggling for a long time too. They could easily be in with the Habs and Wings. It shows that rebuilding isn’t a guarantee to be a success. It sometimes takes more than one attempt to turn into even just a playoff team. Got to definitely get lucky in the draft (even when picking high that there are elite guys in that draft) and make smart trades.Even the Minny take is solid- very different team without Kaprizov.
Interesting topic, and relevant given recent play of mtl and Detroit.
I am not saying that "CBJ and no other team" is bad. That was Florida (flukey SCF Appearance.. got swept, aside) until it wasn't.
Im saying things can change quick.I am not saying that "CBJ and no other team" is bad.
I can imagine they might get to the post-season once in the next ten years.Im saying things can change quick.
Let’s not bump threads nearly a decade old.
Both teams have top prospect pools.Very prophetic post. Habs and Wings are still struggling to get good with not the best looking futures.
Most Columbus fans don't even mention the play-in round. It's kinda funny but it's usually other fans dunking on Toronto. The only team and series we've been strongly excited about was Tampa.CBJ seems to be a generational bottom team. No one seems to criticize them for some reason. I enjoy many of these bumped threads to see what the perspectives were back thenLet’s not bump threads nearly a decade old.
The Pens won two Cups when this thread first started though. The Habs and Wings were rebuilding back then and still are now. And neither GM has been able to either draft or acquire the elite guys who lead clubs to winning. Both teams have top prospect pools.
The easy answer is the Pens. Locked into a bunch of old players.
Their top two assets to trade likely want to retire a Pen.
Horrible prospect pool.
It’s going to be a long time for them (assuming they aren’t gifted another generational player)
Not too sure how anyone found this old of a thread, but it is kind of cool how it’s still relevant.Let’s not bump threads nearly a decade old.
Trust me, I don't feel that old.I get it.
Sensitive about your age, old man.
Now I have to go rewind my Solid Gold 80s hits casette tape with this #2 pencil.
If you think the Habs and Wings have a worse future outlook than the Pens now, then I have serious questions on if you even watch hockey. The Pens won two Cups when this thread first started though. The Habs and Wings were rebuilding back then and still are now. And neither GM has been able to either draft or acquire the elite guys who lead clubs to winning.

in this case the bump is relevant, as it was about the future we can review now.Let’s not bump threads nearly a decade old.
To be fair the Habs did go to SCF four years from that post (fluky as it may have been but they got pretty close to the ultimate goal nevertheless).Very prophetic post. Habs and Wings are still struggling to get good with not the best looking futures.
