Young Jiricek and Young Kos with Jecho for a goal.. our first lead in the entire tournament. Also, our first game where we scored more than 1 goal. If ever there was proof that the Canadian goalie factory is struggling.. this is it.lol

So, after the Czechs get awarded a goal that never went in. They take a shot from the point that goes wide, hits a guy and goes in the net. An absolutely insane bounce.

Canada pulled the goalie after that... that makes no sense to me. One didn't even go in and the other was a crazy bounce

I'm happy we got a point and scored 5 goals. Small victories before we go home with the 7th place medal.

Yeah - even without those guys Black should have the roster to beat of the Canadian teams - Should note that Christopher Brown is out too, not just Celebrini and Spence.

Definitely sucks missing arguably your two best players.

Lol. Hilarious play. Both that defensemen never learn that it's not a good idea to plow the opposition into their goalie, but also that Vansaghi somehow gets penalized for getting shoved from behind into the goalie.

That was a beautiful drop pass by Hensler to Catton. Looked like a slew foot by Misa to be fair to him.

Nice snipe by Catton, who's been quiet all night.

An old friend of mine who was a referee-in-chief for his local minor hockey association (RIP, John) used to teach his refs to follow the "Give, Take, Dirt, Show" method of calling penalties. He didn't want his refs calling all the ticky-tack stuff and enforcing the rulebook to a T all the time. That said, if a player made any kind of infraction that:

1. Gives their team a scoring chance;
2. Takes away a scoring chance from the other team;
3. Does "Dirt" to another player;
4. Shows up the ref.

Then there had to be a penalty.

In this case, Misa's trip gave his team a scoring chance and it should have been called according to John's philosophy.

John was a good teacher and a lot of his pupils went on to ref at higher levels.
