Wonder how much the Czechs pulling their goalie and getting scored on helped the Swedes and hurt the Finn's.

Czechs ended up minus 15 in goal differential. They scored the fewest goals and allowed the most. Expect Canada Rainbow next year and no Czech team.

I say US wins it. Eisermann has more goals than most players have points (9). Good luck to the Canada's, Swedes and the US dream team (they were fun to watch).

So Finland playing Canada Black for bronze... game televised TV5 22.00 Finnish time for anyone interested... I wonder if Väisänen is suspended for dirty slewfoot

The U.S almost certainly wins it though they did show some cracks last game against Canada red, hopefully we can build on that. CR needs to tighten up defensively and win the special teams battle or they won't stand a chance. They do have a chance if they can contain their big line.

Oh, one last thing........................get Hagen no matter the cost.

We weren't even close. I watched every game closely and couldn't even name a guy in our bottom 6.lol Those kids will not be playing hockey in about 5 years time.

Sure I can say no Tomas Galvas (our best D) and playing a small rink and adjustment period. But, this was a whipping. FTR.. I really enjoyed the team and watching them.

If I had to guess... 5 guys get drafted from this squad. 5 more play in extraliga till they are 25. the other 10 will be the kings of their beer leagues.

I see Canada Black is still alive... I could see them giving the US a go. But the US looked real good... 16 year olds in a 'one and done' can do lots of interesting things.

...but it wasn't, aside from the USA game, who are clearly the best team and destroyed some other teams too.

The Czech team played 5 close games and somehow didn't win a single one, happens. They just couldn't catch a break. Starting with the best player getting injured before the tournament even began. The last game was almost comical in how many untimely, fluke goals they conceded, nevermind the refs, who did us no favors to say the least. And yet Czechs still managed to hang around until the last minute pretty much.

I had limited viewings (will probably rewatch some of the games eventually), but I enjoyed this team more than the 2001's or 2003's, both won bronze somehow.

yep looks like Hemming and Ruohonen still injured and Väisänen most likely suspended

Where was this finland yesterday?

Will there be any way to watch the Gold medal game in the US? Or will the TSN feed only be available with a subscription and/or a Canadian IP address?

Suomi!!! Suomi!!! Suomi!!! First full U17 Worlds game for me, i've only seen highlights before but the whole game was one big highlight. Very entertaining, im taping the gold medal game because im old and i should be in bed now but i would believe that it's going to be a good one. I hope that TV5(Discovery) shows this again next year, maybe all the games this time.

Finland seemed to have a good group kids, add Kiviharju and Finland is fighting for the gold medal in next year's U18 Worlds. I hope Kauppinen keeps this "let them kids play"-style next year, no micromanaging please.

Congrats boys for you're first international tournament medal and may it not be the last!

I definitely enjoyed the team and now I have a few guys to follow. I watched every game as it was a very good feed and convenient this last week.

But fewest goals scored, most goals allowed and 1 point after 6 games is not a good stat line. I do wonder if we had Galvas if a few of those close games swing the other way but I'm sure other nations were missing top guys too... eg. the Finn D who's name I keep forgetting wasn't there as he was at a U20 camp... Kivijurhu? Definitely spelt it wrong.

I see your point though.. our stats are not that different from Canada Black who also allowed way too many goals againstt and didn't score that much but they got to final 4.

Canada sending 3 separate teams of players that are playing together for the first time leads to results like this in The gold medal game.

It'd be fun to see Canada go to one team at some point so we had a best-on-best U17 tournament.
I think Canada is quite happy with sending the 3 teams - it gets as many players under the HC umbrella early, and gets them familiar with the program.

Even if Canada were to send their best anyway - USA would still have an Inherent advantage because of the USDP.

Agree it would be much more fun to see the best on best. But it is what it is I guess.

Yeah, Canada isn't trying to maximize its potential to win here as that's not their goal to your point, but it also wasn't that long ago that Canada sent 5 teams here. Going down to 2 teams would make a lot of sense - that's still a lot of U17 players to integrate with the program and they'd be more competitive, too.

Agreed it’d be nice to see 1 team see how everyone stacks up. But at least go down to 2 make them more competitive. But with Russia dropping out idk if they want to go down another team. Maybe bring in another team like Switzerland or Slovakia.

I really liked the old format (Atlantic, Quebec, Ontario, West, Pacific), but this new one sucks.

If they are gonna go with 3 teams they should really divide into 3 regions like WHL, OHL, and QMJHL regional teams. That way at least some of the players are more familiar with each other etc and we can see how each region is stacking up. I understand Team Atlantic for example had basically 0 shot vs teams like Ontario and USA so something needed a change, but the idea of randomly throwing 3 teams together completely missed the opportunity to combine Quebec with Atlantic, combine West with Pacific, and leave Ontario be as they are strong enough.

Canada Red scored the last 2 to get back in the game and the Canadian refs just called off an obvious goal for Team USA for no reason
If you're talking about the play when it was 4-2, according to the announcers the ref had whistled the play dead.
Don't worry though you won 11-3.
