Sad about the loss. But a well deserved win by Team USA

Pity about the tournament format is that if it was a series I'd have no doubt the Canadian team would be able to rally the very next game.

I don’t know why Canada just lost all energy between the latter half of the first and the early half of the second. They looked gassed despite having rested longer than the USA. Then they couldn’t find the back of the net on the few chances they did get and the US kept them from dangerous areas every other time. What a shame.

Ya that might be it for us. Oh well. Good for the Americans.

But I am so tired of us choking in the big games.

I find these tournament formats frustrating to watch for the unpredictable psychological trap doors. Can't really criticize these kids playing in a pandemic bubble too much, but you often see these juggernaut team like Team Canada a tournament on cruise control with no signs of trouble or any adversity and then the moment they run into a hiccup it just snowballs out of control because they haven't had to battle through the emotional turmoil and persevere.

Great game and the better team won.

Exactly. It's not about the better collection of talent, but who is the better team. The American group executed their game plan better than the Canadian group and absolutely gave our gifted players no room to breathe...

That American group are big time winners. Tip your cap and recognize greatness!

The Americans deserve a ton of credit for the way they played. Canada couldn't get it going.

Definitely. You don't get battle tested and when things go wrong you have no push back. Almost like the psychological equivalent to what Canada did to Askarov yesterday.
This is why some of us cringe when they win a game 16-0 at the start. You develop bad habits but more importantly waste a game.

Just once in the matchup vs the USA I want to see Canada play like the more, desperate, hungry, lesser talented team, that need to be assignment perfect and win the compete level in order to pull it off... This century it always seems to be the same thing. The Americans want it more, and they do just enough to overcome the overall talent gap.

Might have to do with the development program and the fact that those kids all grow up together, love each other and want to go to war for each other.

Our kids have a professional philosophy and often end up going on to be great pros. Their kids have a refreshing, cocky, confident, arrogance to them that really creates an energy and swagger that carries them in these competitions. For the record, I think the Finns have a bit of that too and it's been a huge part of their emergence as well.

Spirit, energy, togetherness and an "us again the world" mentality can really take you a long way in amateur sports. The Americans always crush us in that department, IMO.
