Topi with another assist. What a great pick. Top D man in scoring for the WJC. So far, 8 points in six and half games. @JT AM da real deal ’s man Lundell with the goal.
Lundell 2 games in a row on back to backs as best man on da ice BY FAR ... best man against Americans and best man against Russians ... that says more than words can say ... what a team guy too and leader ... he is da best of this age group in an all round game and he proved it in big time games that matter against big time players ... I would trade every single one of our 2020 picks and throw in Robertson too to get him ... he is that good a true puck beast ... Florida needs to get greased up here ... this is one guy I would target all my energy on getting into Leafland .... he is exactly type of guy we need ... BIG, FAST, TOUGH, STRONG ON PUCK, DECENT SKILLS, CONTROLS GAME AS CENTRE AGAINST DIFFERENT PLAYING STYLES IN GAMES THAT MATTER ... in fact I am going to send Shanny a text today to send Dubie after him as hard as he can ... I did not realize he was this good ... unfortunately in hockey you can never really tell about a player until he gets in BEST on BEST environment and then is da BEST ... Finland defense got destroyed by Canada's forecheck you can have Topi all you want ... I will take Sandin over him all day everyday and twice on Sundays

It’s too early to change the narrative. That was a dominating effort by the US. At no point after that 2nd goal did it look like Canada was going to beat them.

In terms of fan popularity and player participation, hockey is way behind football, baseball and soccer in the US and yet they consistently beat Canada in most age groups under 20.
Da best team won fair and square ... and Z proved himself to be a man of men ... Cozens could not match up ... but really really liked Schneider ... it took Canadian coach a period and a bit to figure it out but he did eventually ... you can limit/control centre ice trap with big men in middle who slow game down and control puck and it helps when your big guy can throw a few guys around like bowling pins ... it helped change game not enough for a victory but made it respectable again ... coach should have gone schneider and byram every second shift and played them a minute then gone to 2nd pair for 30 seconds and back on again ... even Ferraro saw it clean as day ... i bet that second US goal does not happen with Schneider out there with a defensive mindset ... Cozens coughed it up on wall, Bryan went out for a rover skate up to blue line and Drysdale was in LALAland as he think offense too ... you can't play 2 offensive guys up against a skilled talent like Z you need to punch him in da mouth a few times and see what he does

Yeah....I'm thinking the same. I mean there's also the possibility that Levi doesn't go very far in his career, but his poise looks too good for a one-hit wonder. Florida also has Lundell. Not bad.

A few more thoughts:

Zegras is looking good! Kinda bummed that he's going to Anaheim. They're going to suck for a long time. Or am I wrong about that?

Buffalo finally have someone who can keep up with Eichel: Cozens.

Even though Byfield wasn't great this time around, LA still has Kaliyev, Turcotte, Faber, Kupari, Spence, Clague, and Vilardi in their system. Give them a few more years and they will be a powerhouse.

Panthers are the biggest mystery wrapped in a enigma...they have / have had for sometime now, pieces, plenty...but
for some reason,..they always under perform...always sucking. Especially first few months.

Barkov & Lundell 1-2 center duo (21-22 season)
Knight & Levi 1-2 goalie prospect duo

Bobrovski, Driedger goalies

Ekblad, Yandle, Weegar, Nutivaara, Gudas, Strålman d-men

Huberdeau is an elite 90-100 point (in a full 82 season) winger

Connelly is a good top 6/9 winger, Vatrano has finally become solid
steady goal/point scoring top 6 / 9 winger, instead of being streaky one
what he was for the Bruins, Acciari was on almost 30 goal pace last season
sure, he only got 7 assists but...

Their forward additions : Hörnqvist, Wennberg, Duclair, Hinostroza

Their d & f prospect pool is good

Grigori Denisenko*
Eetu Luostarinen**

Owen Tippett
Henrik Borgström
Aleksi Heponiemi
Ty Smilanic
Kasper Puutio
Michael Benning
Santtu Kinnunen

*,** i think both will be in their opening day line up this season

For those interested here are the last winners

Sandin
Romanov
Dahlin
Chabot
Werenski
Gavrikov
Ristolanien
Trouba

now that’s good company
Somebody posted the list all the way back to 2008 with Doughty and the only ones younger than Niemela to win it were Dahlin, Werenski, Karlsson, and Doughty. None of those guys returned the following year.

Trouba was the next youngest after Niemela followed by Romanov.

Schneider got walked a bunch of times, and handled the puck like it was a grenade. Even my kid said he has all the puck skills of a Polak. We could use a guy like that though, as you say, they have use defensively.

He kept everyone to outside and threw their baby as*es into da wall many times where they cried uncle and then they stopped gunning for our net shortly thereafter .. it is called playing a mean game of defense and it is required to change games ... keep control of centre of ice and he got da game back for us ... you can't have a team of defense causing goals against ... i love Byram skating/effort/heart but you can't get caught like that causing 2nd goal ... it can't happen on winning teams ... he left his goalie and team out to dry there

Schnieder wasn't a world beater, but he was nowhere near that bad. He was adequate in his outlet passing, strong at denying zone entries, and made a couple of dangerous rushes in the semis and finals. He got walked a few times, banged it off the glass a few times, and coughed it up a few times. To expect completely mistake free hockey completely ignores the talent of opponents and forgets that even Victor Hedman gets walked and ices the puck occasionally. Schnieder was adequate, no more, no less tbh.

I know... I'm mostly trying to give him a hard time... JT.

Sanderson closing in and taking the body on Cozens on that 2nd goal was a terrific physical play.

Yes da better man won ... you have to respect that ... hockey is all about those little plays which most people don't see but you clearly did too ... Sandy was stronger on his skates and made a great hit causing da giveaway .. well played

Yeah, good points. They always look good on paper, but can never seem to put it all together.

Ekblad Stralman and Yandle ???? sorry but not nearly enough to win. But I really like their centres and tenders. Who knows maybe they can get da 4th playoff spot this year.

Well what I learned last night is Lundell is best player on ice either team BY FAR ... he would look great as our 3rd line centre and maybe even this year ... he is a mans man and plays a complete hard game like a lead man ... Florida drafted him ... Florida also drafted Levi ... Florida needs game breakers and we need Cup guys to help us get over top ... also no room in Florida for Levi as US top goalie is Florida 1st rounder and they got Bobbo at big money for 6 more years ... so trade Topi and Asimor to Florida for Lundell and Levi ... Florida gets 2 high end points guys which they need and we get 2 winners to help us out ... i think works for both sides and gets us closer to a Cup

Further on this... Maple Leafs select Dmitry Ovchinnikov at 137th overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The Maple Leafs traded up! They moved picks #153 and #212 to the Florida Panthers for pick #137.Oct 7, 2020

Florida used pick #212 for Levi. So, that was originally a Leafs pick.

Ovchinnikov is looking like a gem of a pick. Not really seeing what the problem is. Developing goalies is hard and unpredictable, Leafs are probably better off trading for one when they need to.
