didn't watch any of the split squad CAN v USA games, but both sound like they were dandies. If middle of the summer exhibition games between these 2 teams are that good, it sort of reinforces my position that CAN v USA is really the only international hockey worth getting out of bed for. Hopefully I'll get a chance to tune in to a CAN v USA game later in the week.
Good hockey with a good rivalry is all fine and well, but winning is a lot better.

And we are losing to them far too often lately, getting sick of getting out of bed to see that.

Assuming you were talking about the end of the 2nd period... Guinn gave Addison a hefty slash which caused everyone to pair off.
I just saw the video of Quinn and someone slashing/xchecking each other and Jack came in from behind on him.

Love emotions in an exhibition game between the kids of these nations, though.

Teasdale is in my family I would like to have your feedback on his game in the party of yesterday the people who were there if there were any there.

Here's some quick notes from the Red vs. White games last night.

Noah Dobson, Canada's player of the game did not disappoint. As others have noted he seems like an all situations Pietrangelo clone. There were a lot of GA in this game, but his passing is very good and he stepped up on the rush a few times. Not afraid to take the body either.

Quinn Hughes: You know he's on the ice every shift. Presses his attacks all the way to the end boards, routinely. Fun player to watch. Chippy.

John Hughes: I think he had a three point night, including setting up his bother for the winner with 2:25 to go. Ho hum. Not as much wow factor as you would expect, from this viewing. He seemed very happy to set up that winner, maybe cause he was getting heckled pretty hard all game.

Joel Farabee: 2 goals and dangerous all night. American player of the game.

Michael Rasmussen: Huge, just huge. Was involved all night.

Ty Smith: May have be good enough be considered Canada's 2nd best defender in this game. Played a lot, and made some very good defensive efforts coming back.

Cale Addison: Had a rough outing in my opinion. Give-aways.

Raphael Lavoie: Was the big takeaway for me, he was involved all night. He is another 6' 4" forward for Canada and slated to be a first rounder next June.

Mike Depietro: Had a tough night in my opinion. Could have been pulled earlier.

Isaac Ratcliffe: Another Canadian behemoth. Noticable.

Serron Noel: Jeez the Canadians iced a big lineup. This kid was noticable too.

Nick Suzuki: Scored and was dangerous, but for a high 2017 draft maybe should have done more.

Oliver Wahlstrom: Thought he would put his stamp on this game with a few noticeable shots. He did not. Was invisible until the EN.

Ian Mitchel: I thought he was one of the more sound Canadian forwards on the night. Seems calm and in position. Roofed one. Good player.

This was a fun, fast paced game.

Points wise yes but wasn't he a standout against USA according to one of the guys who reported here? I guess he is doing the right things but just can't find himself on the scoreboard.
Thats what peoples do, scoreboard watching

Thanks for the write-up!

Couple points:

- Jack* Hughes
- DiPietro wasn't pulled, I think the goalies switched at the half way point – although he did have a rough outing.
- Isn't Ian Mitchell a defenseman?

Ian Mitchell is a d-man ... so does that mean he was out of position (for a d-man)?

Oilers fans will cry in 3-4 years from now when dobson is fully developed...

After the Wings drafted Jack Adams in 2017 his agent called him and said "how does it feel to be drafted..." or whatever and he responds "They didn't draft me they drafted John Adams." and his agent said "You are John Adams."

On a side note, does any Fin here know what the real birthday of Ville Petman is? Elite and Hockey DB have him as a January 18th 2000 birthday (which would make him a re-entry this year) but Hockey Canada for the Tournament has him as an October 2000 Birthday (which would make him a first time eligible).

On a side note, the term "family advisor" is the preferred nomenclature for NCAA "amateur" athletes.

Bouchard had a nice shot in the other split squad game resulting in a goal.

I think Bouchard will be just fine in a few years.

I am not a Finn, but Leijonat.fi - Jääkiekkoliiton virallinen verkkopalvelu lists his Bday as 18.01.2000. I think it can only mean one thing...

I have to say that website isn't the easiest to navigate even with Google translate...

EDIT: The link to his team: Leijonat.fi - Joukkuekortti

How could Ville Petman physically be an October 2000 birthday? His brother's a May 2001 birthday. Biology...
