Score didn't reflect the game last night. USA dominated the Swedes for the most part. Tons of 50/50 puck wins and takeaways. USA played a gritty, aggressive game yesterday with everyone involved.

Berard continues to play his game. Huge first goal on the PP to get the team going. He seems to be picking his moments, conserving energy and playing a little more of a smarter, mature game than last year where he was just flat out buzzing around everywhere. I think he will get a shot at the NHL level, but to what degree and longevity is the question.

Really love the Knies kid. Heavy on the body, but can also really handle the puck. Too bad he didnt fall 7 more spots to the Rangers in the 21 draft

That Grubbe pick is brutal enough as it is. Let's not make it worse

I really like that Flames pick Matt Coronato the NY kid. He’s gonna be a good NHL player for the Flames if he signs with them. Maybe he wants to play closer to home

I'll tell ya what, that Riley Duran kid has been pretty good. Former 6th round pick by the Bruins who is unsigned. Might be worth trying to take a flier on if the Bruins don't love em or he finds is way to UFA.

Agree. It's hard to get a read on Berard. He's either going to be Ryan Bourque, Tyler Motte or Steve Larmer. At least at the juniors level he's been very strong along the wall and on the forecheck. Much of his offense comes around the net. He has decent vision and puck skills but what stands out most at this level is how much he already plays a N/S pro style game. For a small guy he plays a pretty gritty game and is always looking to mix it up in front of the net.

Anything between Motte and Larmer is a win.

I started looking into it this the other day and I couldn't find anyone, but maybe @Amazing Kreiderman can go deeper than I did. When was the last time a player who scored as little as Grubbe did in his post draft season turned into a decent NHL'er? I don't think the historical precedent is on his side.

Tanner Jeanott was not drafted. how about a list of players that was only drafted? Grubbe was a 3rd round pick. Hope he makes it but seems too injury prone

Based on that, it seems like a realistic hope for someone with his track record would be a 4th liner who can fight, right?

"I'm very physical," the Flint Firebirds winger said. "That's how I get under the skin of guys. I'm almost 190 pounds and I play like I'm a little bit heavier. That's something a little underrated in my game."

Connor Bedard, who was also teammates with Othmann at the 2021 under-18 World Championship, agrees.

"At the U18s I remember in the first game I was shocked that he threw like three big hits," the Regina Pats forward said. "He creates a lot of energy for us, and he can make such good plays. He gelled well with us."

"He finishes every check," noted top-line centre Mason McTavish. "He plays hard. He plays the right way. He's pretty chirpy too."

"The guy that I always look up to in the NHL is Matthew Tkachuk," said Othmann. "He's a guy that's physical and gets under guys’ skin a lot. He likes to be that rat on the ice."

I'm keeping an eye on Logan Cooley. He hits 25 or 26 and the trade watch is on, if he hasn't already been traded by then. Just like every other super high pick for AZ.

With all this talk about the Kings and their center death, if their is a match with the Rangers, I hope they look at Helenius. Rangers love their bloodlines
