Who do you like right now? It certainly looked like you were overreacting to the Finns showing against a Team Canada that was playing at probably 65% of their potential.

He played 1 good game against the Germans, as a winger not a Center. I give him credit for this, infact he seems to be more impactful as a winger.

Bothers you much that Jones is starting to make a legitimate case that he is better than Mackinnon or Barkov?

I wasn't overreacting at all. They played a couple solid pre-tournament games, and a really good game yesterday. They lookthe part of a contender so far. Hopefully the keep it up.

Take a look at what Galchenyuk is doing in Sarnia, both as a center, and a leader. He an absolute machine. His play on the wing just shows how versatile he is. Definitely the kind of player with the chops to play in almost all situations, and make an impact. Let's hope he keeps it up.

What about me praising Jones' play so far, makes you think that bothers me? Competition will make every kid better. I want this kid to make the decision at #1 tough. Hard working, gifted kid. He deserves all the success he earns.

Can you just spit it out, make a prediction, commit, it won't kill ya. There are fence sitters and then there's you Ernie.

Naming 5 teams...OMG

And mods, this is on topic with the WJHC and Ernie and I are pals, no need to overreact and moderate here.

I'm not sitting on the fence at all. I haven't seen all of the teams play yet. I can't really say who I think will win until I get a good look.

The US looks good early, but Canada has to build chemistry, as they aren't as familiar.

RIGHT NOW, I would say a Canada/US final would be possible, if Subban figures it out, but the Scandanavian squads look good too.

I'm not at all convinced by the Russians. I think they play for Bronze.

I see Gally better as a winger, as a Center he didn't have the impact he had as winger with Team USA. We will see, but I can see Les Habs doing with him what Boston did with Seguin. Whereas I see Monahan as purely a Center, I think Gally could make a decent winger in the NHL.

I sure hope the Leafs win the lottery, would love to have Jones join our Defence corps. He is only going to get better as he ages and fills out. Bank it. See that's how you not sit on the fence Ernie, not hard at all.

Not making a prediction because i haven't seen teams play isn't fence sitting, it's smart, and logical.. Lol

I'm open. There are 5 teams that could contend for gold, and we'll see separation soon.

Ok fair enough, but you won't get any cred from me naming 5 teams as possible Gold medal teams. Darwin the monkey could probably predict that.

I don't need your validation... Lol. I'll make an educated pick when I see them all play.

No need to make a pick based on one game. For now, a power rankings style list is more sensible.

You seem to live to follow my posts, and throw not so subtle jabs, i bet you'll be getting your popcorn ready.

I wouldn't term it as follow, as more they catch my eye for better or worse. Really, don't make a habit of buying 649 tickets, it's hard to have a chance after the fact. 5 teams have a chance of gold? No kidding.

How does someone even respond to your half-assed attempts at being funny/insulting them?

So Let me get this straight. I don't like to make assumptions, and I don't like making uneducated calls, so... I shouldn't play the lottery? I don't play it anyway, i do just fine making miney playing props.

Second, yeah, there are 5 solid, talnted teams, all of whom can be calle contenders. Sue me for not wanting to declare one the favourite having not seen the all, and one game into round robin, when only one of them has played a wuality opponent.

Lol

Oh, LR, I need a chat with ya, hit my inbox, as the chimps disabled my ability to PM as well.

Ridiculous.

I only see 3 teams that realistically have a chance at gold, they are Russia, Canada, and The USA. Not sure where 5 came from?

In other words, I think you just declared you had no idea who is going to win the Gold medal, fair enough. You don't have an idea even after the tournament has started. When you do get an idea, please don't tell us halfway into the medal round. You would agree it makes no sense by then to state the obvious.

Sweden and Finland??

Pretty easy.

Finland for Gold. I'd say Sweden can medal but really doubt its better than bronze. Don't like their beat up defence. If you consider USA a gold medal team you pretty much have to consider the Finns that beat them 5-1 as contenders

Correct. The only team who'solayed a worthy opponent was Sweden, an they disposed of the Czechs pretty easily.

Right now, I would say based on what I have seen, the US/Finland/Canada/Sweden look solid, and the Russians look shakey. They had a few really good individual performances, but the team didn't look all that good as a unit.

I do think, however, that the Finns are the best European team in the tourney.

This is actually one of the most wide open tournaments in years. When the Swedes are arguably the 5th strongest team on paper you know its a strong year.

Also, the Swedes could be playing with a B squad and they could still find a way to be competitive, much like Canada they are filled with skill, and the big ice helps them against the North Americans for sure

Sweden's D is their only potential downfall, from my view. They've got the horses up front, and good goaltending.

I am not a big fan of the USA squad, but like a couple years ago, they have the best goalie in the tournament. That can carry them.
