You guys will argue over any stupid thing.

Miller is a good player, he's skilled, though he probably hasn't really reached the point of being able to use his skill consistently.

Others players are also good players, probably moreso than Miller.

But arguing over why Miller is on team NA instead of other players is dumb. Who cares? Why are you even arguing about it? If he doesn't play much, who cares? This isn't the NHL season either.

Chill and stop nitpicking every damn thing that comes up, whether it's thinking someone else is overrated or stats mining players to argue about who should or shouldn't do this or that

Hesitant to add to the "argument", but Miller is on this team so that fans in the NYC area have a rooting interest right?

Well, he is the only one who actually can be called up for the team on the Rangers. Can't really have Skjei or Vesey there and McIlrath is too old (Not that he would deserve to be on the team if he was 23)

/random quotes from other fans in NHL about the World Cup.

Hockey has had speed and skill in it since the game was created, that is not some new revolution.

Even if Lombardi added a little more skill like you suggested, team USA is still a weak team compared to Euro/Canada.

The USA has weak center depth, weak wingers(outside of Kane), and Above avg defenders. There is still not enough talent in the USA to compete with the rest of the world in These tournaments.

Did people already forget the Bronze medal game ? USA is no match for these international teams.

Good thing the US roster was built to beat Canada!

Well, building up for tomorrow game USA vs Canada :)

Scratching your own players in a must win game. Not sure how CBJ fans are going to feel about that.

Palmieri and Byfuglien (at D, what a concept) in.

I'd have scratched Abdelkader. Bumped Patches to play with Kane, but what do I know? :dunno:

He probably is just throwing in the towel and wants his own players safe for training camp :sarcasm:

Or, you could like, pick American players with skill to be on the team in the first place.

TJ Oshie is plenty skilled - I sure hope this doesn't mean that the US will play boring dump and chase all night, although with Torts and against Canada, that's probably what they will do. Good luck playing prevent defense against Bergeron-Crosby-Marchand. That line is insane.

Last night's game was amazing. McDavid is a stud

He has jetpacks in is skates, right? I just hope he never goes crashing into the boards at full speed. So many ways to hurt yourself when you're going that fast. The first player I'm legitimately worried about for being too fast.

You forget about last year already? :amazed: :sarcasm:

Abdelkader is not good and hasn't looked good in any of the pre-tournament games or the first game. He looks overmatched.

No idea why he's a staple in this lineup. I agree, I'd scratch Abdelkader, put Patcioretty with Stepan-Kane.

After watching a few games so far...Colton Parayko and Morgan Reilly are just on a whole different level then most of the Dmen in the tourney. Specifically, they to me are far better then J Johnson and E Johnson.

They adjust to the play in their own end effortlessly.
The jump into the play as good as any in the league.
They MAKE plays when the game is on the line.

NA vs Russia might have been the3 best game i've seen in years!

Have you seen who's coaching this team?

Because only this idiot would play a 40 goal scorer on the 4th line. Or leave possibly the 2nd or 3rd best American defenseman off the roster in the first place.

Ekblad too. Really hope his concussion isn't serious. He'll probably be a staple in the Canadian top 4 for years to come. Right behind Doughty.

I agree, at least of the younger guys. Hedman and such also are playing at a high level.

Not a great showing by Trouba and Jones so far in my opinion.

Classic Torts, trying to send a message to his NHL players through the World Cup competition. Even if its the right decision, he's always got to stir the pot. This isn't the time.

USA Hockey made a huge mistake selecting him as a coach. In a competition that is this short lived you need a coach who is flexible and can adapt to the different styles the other countries throw at you. Gotta keep it loose, yet focused for the players. Torts is so head strong I'm sure he had an idea what he wanted out of his club before the players were even selected.

I am so down on USA hockey right now, I'm actually rooting for the North American team. Everything about them is more exciting and you don't have a bozo for a coach who's addicted to the need of having his presence felt every day. One way or another it always becomes about him, when the focus should be on the ice.

I used to like Torts but every time I see him now it makes me sick to my stomach. The fact that we have to rely on him to manage our country's most talented players is pretty sad. Theres a reason why he's bounced around the league so much lately. Hopefully USA Hockey will smarten up and select a better candidate next time, after the Americans get knocked out tonight. Not going to put all the blame on Torts, because this team isn't that great to begin with, but no need to complicate things further by putting an idiot behind the bench.

I'm very grateful to John Tortorella for producing a son who represents the best of America (Army Ranger).

Other than that...not a thing. What the hell is the point of having Brandon Dubinsky in the roster if he's not going to defend and annoy Sid? And not playing Byfuglien when you claim your identity is grinding and hard hitting?

He should never be allowed to coach again
